My outbound calls have no delay, but as said by others, incoming calls have a 2-3 second delay before they can hear me. I just wait until the timer comes up, and have had no problems or hang ups.

For what it's worth, I've never had a hands free (including ear pieces) that did not have some amount of delay as opposed to just using the phone itself. I think it's just part of how bluetooth works. YMMV.

But regular Bluetooth doesnt have anywhere near a 3 second answering delay. This is obviously not a phone issue (because it's a problem with many different brands and models of phones; common element being the Prius 2010 bluetooth interface), it's a bug in that interface.

For now, I press the pickup button, and then do a 1-banana... 2-banana... 3-banana... "HELLO?". It's both a nuance and a nusance.

As an aside, when I was testing the delay between two cellphones in the car, there is this great "echo chamber" effect that drove the kids wild :cell::director::roll::alien::phone:.

    Hi Guys,

I just upgraded my DVD to version number 9.X and problem solved. DVD did an update to the system. No more delay after new DVD.

I am really glad this 3 second delay its GONE!! It was really annoying!

    Cheers!

    :)

I have a slight delay but not as bad as on my 2008 Acura mdx Bluetooth. I figured it was just a BT problem. I just wait a sec before saying "hello".

I also have the connection delay for incoming calls, and find it very annoying. Very annoying.

Our family has both 3G and 3GS Iphones, just get used to the 2 second delay before it works, hello, hello, hello. ;)

If the new Nav DVD fixes it, what do people without Nav do?

A handful of recent posts suggests that the current 9.x version of the Nav DVD helps with the delay, which is all well & good, but doesn't seem like it's going to be of any use to those of us that didn't get the Nav option.

If Toyota has a software fix for this issue -- and that's really the question here -- how are people without Nav supposed to get it?

(I suppose the answer is just "contact the dealer"...)

I saw something interesting today but was did not have time to duplicate it. I received a call while sitting at a stop sign (no Nav Lock since was not moving) and it seems like for the first time, I did not have a delay. I notice that when I am moving, the caller ID function and timer do not show up, but this time, they worked exactly as I expected them to.

The question is, could this be related to the NAV Lock while driving. Has anyone else received a call while sitting still and if so, did they have the delay. Was this just a fluke for me?

Or, is there the same delay independent of the Nav doing Routing or Not-Routing?

I almost never use nav, and still have the delay on all incoming calls.

It has nothing to do with routing. When you are moving, the Nav system locks you out of most functions. It is during that lockout that the delay seems to exist.

Don't have a 2010 Prius just yet, but this may be of interest. We've had a 2004, 2005, and 2006 Prius (family of 5), all with nav, and used iPhones with all of them. We had the same delay issue described here with the 04 and 05 but what is of interest is that the delay does not exist in the 06. The 06 has a different MFD. Clearly it is an issue with the computer in the MFD on the 04 and 05. Sounds like Toyota needs to find the same fix they applied in the 06.

I just did a test with a friend. I had him call me while I was driving then while I was stopped (tried it twice for each scenario). On each call as soon as I hit the answer button I said "Hello One, Hello Two, Hello Three", Etc. In all cases he heard me on the "Hello Three". It made no difference whether I was stopped or moving. I still can't replicate a scenario where there is NOT a delay but I know it happens.

I have the delay, but will have to check my Nav version and report back. I too count 1 one thousand, 2 one thousand, 3 one thousand and then say hello to resolve, but it is frustrating for me and the people calling.
