What Is The One Thing You Would Change?

I've had my GII for a month today. I'll echo the earlier comments about the lack of storage space. A coin holder and pockets on the doors would be a good start. The other thing is the cup holder situation. Coming from a Sienna, the Prius just doesn't have enough places to park drinks.

 

I would replace the interior materials with decent ones that actually do not rattle or squeak at the expense of 2-3 MPG. How about that?

 

More solid interior that not rattles. (Biggest mistake that toyota made with this vehicle)
Remove the heating function on the steering wheel and replace it with the ev/eco/pwr buttons.
Keyless backdoors so you don't have to touch the front doorhandle first.

 

I would add memory buttons for seat and mirrors - I guess I would also add electric seat adjustments in order for the memory buttons to work.

 

I would change my dealership experience. Buying a Prius (or any car for that matter) should be simple and dealers more forthcoming.

 

I'd like 400-500 hp with 50 miles or more per gallon of gasoline.

I would change how the heated seat button is practicaly on the floor. I think it should be up by the three different power modes.

And with the split window. That can't be change because of the reason of aerodynamics. If they got rid of that then fuel economy would go down. But me personally I just use the outside mirriors. Comming from me I also owned the gen II prius so I'm. Used to it. But we also have a truck with a long bed so backing thatoutyou can't see till your practically out of the parking spot.

I reccomend if you can't see out of the mirriors and you don't have a backup camera. You can buy a license plate frame with a camera built in it for 100$ at walmart.

I use the one on my prius in the navigation screen it helps tons.

Also pratice without using your mirriors. I was afriad when my grandparents took a test drive in my new 2010 prius because of re mirrors. But my grand la said when he was a kid most cars didn't have mirrors so he learned without them and is better at backing up by just turnng his head then using all the fancy stuff on todays cars.

I'd love to see auto headlights and rain-sensing wipers. Oh and an easier way to browse my iPod.

Aside from those (really) trivial nits, everything else is wunderbar!

 

Have good results with a CIPA 11.75" panoramic convex mirror clip-on, over the 10.5" Prius inside rear view mirror. It does not interfere with the visors in this size (larger one is 18"). I could not see out the side windows with the flat mirror, but can with the convex mirror, seeing farther away to the side than with the outside mirrors. Interesting that while this clip-on loses the dimming feature of the original mirror, that feature appears no longer needed. The convexity and perhaps some permanent tint (though does not seem tinted), make rear headlights so much less bright than with the flat mirror they do not interfere with driving. And one can see better out the back at night without the dimming -- I would often be flipping it on and off, say in parking lots. There might be some still brighter headlights yet to encounter, but seems good so far after one 15mi round trip on busy roads at night. Also the tinting on the lower rear window panel reduces lights pulled up right behind.
The convexity does not seem severe and produce too much distortion.
Such clip-ons are inexpensive, around $10 at most.
A variety of brands. I only know the CIPA works well.

 

To repeat some of the items mentioned by others:

Make the steering wheel telescope further (it basically sucks now)

Doors should have map slots in addition to cup holders (and I mean "CUP HOLDERS" - not those doofus little bottle slots)

Replace the interior materials with decent ones (that cheap "mouse skin" is crap)

 

I would like auto-folding mirrors.

 

They had all this in the Gen II Interior design. Yet another example of how the Gen III Interior is stupid!

 

I Agree with this as well. I find myself going for the temp and defrost buttons on the Steering wheel, and WHAT - WHERE DID THEY GO - Oh Damn It - yet another stupid interior redesign fopah!!!!

 

While the Gen III steering wheel is ugly, and poorly exectuted (sharp edges on transition from round to straight sections), the straight section does help one know where the wheel is without looking at it. Although, after one-month in my 2006, I was perfectly happy with my elegant eliptical steering wheel....

 

Mine has temp ^ and v buttons on the steering wheel. I thought they were all the same.

 

headrests that dont make my neck stiffly jut forward unless my seat is tilted way back, and that have space in the middle for girls like me who wear their hair up on the back of their head and dont want it mushed against the headrest.

 

There are more than one things I would change. Visibility--poor. Comfort--fair. About 6 inches above the ground, so that I've had to repair a busted shield, without even remembering scraping it, and the front end running into the curb when I park. The mileage is great. But maybe not great enough.

 

I agree totally. There may be a few other minor items but if it didn't rattle I would have no serious complaints.
