That would mean I'd have to mod my Sig  Oh well, I'll just go w/the program here.. np. Have a good one bd~
Ban the (YOU) tag? Are you serious? Everyone loves that feature. In fact, just the other day [YOU] sent me an email saying that it's one of the greatest things ever. And I'll trust [YOU]'s opinion any day! :-D
If Danny wants to remove the (you) tag, it's pretty easy. go to the includes/bbcode.php file and look for: Code: //[you] - inserts the name of the person viewing the post $patterns[] = "#\[you\]#ise"; $replacements[] = $bbcode_tpl['you']; And just comment out the patterns and replacements line by adding a // at the front. That will disable it. Code: //[you] - inserts the name of the person viewing the post //$patterns[] = "#\[you\]#ise"; //$replacements[] = $bbcode_tpl['you']; Dave
It was pretty freaky and it took me a while to realize that [you] was just a tool and that I wasn't as important as I thought I was. I think it's kind of funny still. Then again, I'm warped mentally.
I agree. It did freak me out until I figures it out! ...and it probably will continue to freak out all the newbies coming to this site. I really do think it's a good idea to remove that <you > code.
It does freak out the newbies. Personally, I'd vote the ]Yout[ Tag off the island -- but would not be bothered if it wasn't.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(tag\";p=\"101617)</div> Gee, thanks! [/b][/quote] It's your lot in life, Tag.
Being a former victim of it and actually going to sleep thinking I had done something wrong or that [you] was being mean, I vote you keep it. It is kind of an initiation type thing. [you] really appreciates it after [you] have it all figured out. Maybe we should take it all to a vote... or maybe we could incorporate [you] onto the Priuschat t-shirt. Then [you] would get a bigger head than he/she already has!
"Paranoia strikes deep Into your life it will creep..." - Stephen Stills I'm fairly new to the site and I must admit, first time freaked me out a bit. Once I got the not-terribly-funny-but-not-anything-to-get-too-bent- out-of-shape-about joke, it wasn't a problem. Except for one recent instance when in the middle of his message/reply to someone else, one of our esteemed fellow Prius owners informed me that my signature was "annoying." That seemed to be going over the line somewhat...not to mention the fact that the signature box on my profile is/was blank! Or at least I thought it was...
Actually, being logged in as the [ you] tag, I now see every post *exactly* as it is typed. I am now completely comfortable with the tag. Logging in as [ you] is sort of like a special cloak or lens on the site that only I have. The rest of you suffer as I type things like "[you] is a pooper scooper" or "I spent the night at [you]'s house and now I have fleas." Ahhh, the cloak of [ you].... Will my powers never cease!??
Impressively prescient! I do, in fact, scoop my retriever's poop. (Generally the day the gardener comes, so as to make his lawn mowing adventures less...adventuresome.) But that smug and gratuitous remark about fleas--totally out of line. Spider bites from sleeping at my house, perhaps. But thanks to an aggressive skin care regimen (the dog's, not mine), the flea situation is well under control, thank you.
I knew I should have ordered that flea medecine earlier this month! I have a flea comb you can borrow, if you like.
Wow, that's pretty cool! Now, when someone quotes the poster 'you', we all now get quoted for things we never said!
If there was a way to make it impossible for the ]you[ to be mistaken for regular text, then there would be less worries. Somehow force the ]you[ stuff to be in 28pt blue text all the time, and people wouldn't think they were being sniped at. Anyone who'd enter a whole post in 28pt blue just to be funny would stand out like a sore thumb...
Hey,.....is someone out there posting with my username,....Dawgtoy?..... I've never posted here before so what's this thread all about?....
