I have tried to connect via the AUX input in my Prius 2010 to the iPod Touch and my iPod Shuffle (1st gen) headphone output jack and in both cases the volume output from the car stereo is low. It does not change much when raising the volume of the iPod to the max. Has any of you tried to connect their iPod connecting the headphone output to the AUX input and noticed the same issue? Do I need to use an adaptor or some other device to make sure that I can hear my iPod properly? Thanks for any help/info.
Used the AUX jack with iPhone OS3.0, iTouch 3.0, iPod classic - all work fine. You have to adjust the volume on the iPod for best sound - but the level can be adjusted very loud. If yours is not, and you have tried different devices (and are sure you turned up the volume on the iPod), you have a defective port/HU...
I'm very satisfied with: Griffin Technology: AutoPilot - Charge/control/play your iPod through your car's AUX-in port It puts a charge on the iPod and audio quality is excellent. Bob Wilson
I use the AUX with my iPod Touch and have no problems with the volume. As rrolff wrote, adjusting the volume on the iPod should bring the sound level up to the radio's sound level. Try replacing the cable between the AUX jack and your iPod. I doubt that this is the problem, but it's cheap to troubleshoot a possible cause of it.
Are you sure the cable is all the way in?? If it is try a new one or hook the cable into something else like a surround system to see if it works well. Make sure you aux port is protected from dirt/debris. Basically I have a cord I leave in there all the time, that way I do not need to worry about dirt in the port.
Usually iPods (and Zune, etc.) do pretty well into the AUX, but you will still need to boost the volume from your normal listening setting. It's usually the smaller mp3 players (the ones with just 1 AAA battery) that have a problem and really need some type of preamp. Google Sound Shocker, FiiO, or Boosteroo and you'll find all sorts of info.
I have ordered one the other day - I did not see it the last time I checked the Griffin website...weird... I should receive it tomorrow and then let's see what happens.
I am using the Kensington LiquidAUX Deluxe Auxiliary Car Kit with Remote and it works wonderfully with both my iPod classic and iPod Touch. Plus the little remote control button that comes with this can be placed anywhere in the car. http://www.amazon.com/dp/product/B0011UK2HO?tag=priuschatcom-20
I have received the Griffin Autopilot last week and tried and it works perfectly. I need to set it "high", otherwise low is not good enough (for me), otherwise it is wonderful. Now, if only the FM reception wasn't that noisy/full of pops and static.... THANKS to "bwilson4web" for the hint!
Inside the central console compartment underneath the central arm rest - open it and at the bottom, at the back, next to the cigarette lighter socket (or I should say, power supply socket) there is the "AUX" input jack, covered by a soft plastic cover.
