Just wondering if anyone knows a place in Orange County, Los Angeles, that does Airblue or similar tint for a decent price. Looking to do windshield as well.
It would not be street legal, so it would be hard to advertise. California Window Tint Law - TintCenter.com For $200 I had my Prius tinted to Mississippi law. http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/MS/
i had the Llumar Air Blue installed on my windshield and it's barely noticable. i highly doubt the law will even notice. it definitly cuts down the heat from the sun. i have 80% air blue on windshield and axxess 50% on all other windows. cost was $300 but i am located in orlando, fl. pictures can be seen here: Llumar Air Blue windshield tint on Flickr - Photo Sharing! I don't care much for the black tint on black car thing. The limo look is best left to luxury cars, with either size, chrome trim, or other accent that helps offset the lack of contrast from window to body. on a prius, i feel black on black looks cheap, all it really does is accentuate the car's least desirable traits, IMO. The "blue" look that mercedes glass has would be a nice touch to contrast the prius body, draw attention to its lines, etc etc. also, it'd be a hell of a lot cooler inside the car.
to whom are you referring to? my car is silver with the lightest tint you can get in the llumar axxess line (50%) and also the lowest for the windshield with the air blue (80%). did you even bother clicking on my links or did you just reply to whatever was on your mind?
whoa there. well, im sure you mean well but what comes to mind is that if i'm referencing a black car, and not quoting your previous post, then i'm in all likelihood talking about not-you. that said, i think your windshield looks great, can't wait to get it myself....i was stating that while the common answer to black-car is equally dark tint, i don't much care for it myself.
no worries, my post was not intended to flame. i was just wondering what you were trying to say. i agree with you on tints, i don't care for the limo look either and i try to keep the tint "light". another thing to consider is your interior color. the darker your seats and dash, the darker the tint will appear. i entertained air blue on all windows but due to the sun in Florida, i wanted some shade on the side windows.
I went to Tint Plus in OC,. They did a GREAT job... Heres the URL.. Pinnicle 50 All around, AirBlue 80 in the front windshield!!! Window tinting Orange County California products showcase Tint Plus#
I had the Huber Optik on my old Audi and it worked great at heat rejection but I prefer double limo more for privacy. I will have double limo on the back glass and 32% on the front wondow. I would love to have the Air Blue on my windshield as 32% on the windshield is too noticeable and not worth the ticket. I guess I will have to find out who has it here in the desert. On a side note, as mentioned in a previous post, the Mercedes, BMW and VW use a different type of sand to get the blue color in the glass.
Does this particular tint contain metallic particles? If it does, the navigation system might not work very well. Certainly worth checking out. Jim
might be a stupid question but how does metallic tint affect the radio if the antenna is on the outside? Can't we just tint the sides with metallized tint and the rear hatch gets regular dye.
found a place that'll do all windows (including windshield) with AirBlue for $380...is this a good deal?
Your GPS antenna in a Gen II is INSIDE the car... NO signal, no LOCATION! If you have a Garmin etc. inside the car, NO signal, no LOCATION! If your cell phone is in the car, NO signal!! The metal in the tint significantly reduces to an unusable level!. Same reason cell phones do not work inside a elevator!!
With CA cost of living and labor rates it doesn't sound bad at all. I think my old shop charges around $325-350 to do all the windows in the Prius with LLUMAR tint.
My car is downstairs in the garage getting AirBlue on all windows including windshield and rear lower panel, as I type. I got quoted on the high end at $650 so I feel like I got a deal, recession be damned. I'm driving to las vegas in a week, so I'll post my experience of desert heat vs. new "blue" glass.
