Maybe I'm impatient, ok, I am, but it takes so long to get to your contact list for the phone, having to wait for each instruction and then the confounded "beep". Anyone know how to jump ahead short of picking up the phone and speed dialing? To me this process pretty much makes the voice commands worthless.
Setup -> Voice -> Turn off "Voice Recognition Guidance" Or page 242 in the navigation system manual for details!
Yes, you can jump right to the beep by pressing on the voice activation button on the steering wheel.
Disabling voice guidance was probably the best settings change I've found. For my dad, however, he needs the hand holding, so I'm glad they've provided it. Problem is, he doesn't wait for the beep to respond. It'll sink in eventually (I hope).
Does anyone know if this works with older models? I have a 2006, and when I clicked on "turn voice guidance off" it only turned off the FIRST annoying voice command. It still keeps talking after commands that take 2-3 steps (which unfortunately, is most of them). Thanks! The annoying woman is driving me nuts! Also on older models you can't just press "talk" again to have her move on to the beep. It just cancels your initial command.
Right, you can turn it off altogether but I prefer to cut it short by just pressing the voice button again. If there is no prompt at all, you have to look at the screen to figure out where you are in the voice recognition menu.
I agree, I just prefer to jump ahead and press the Voice button to shortcut them. Also, you can use SOME commands out of sequence. For instance, you don't have to say "Phone"...and then "Dial by Name"....you can just press the Voice button, then hit the button again and say "Dial by Name"...without waiting for Nav Lady to speak and without having to say "Phone" first. For fun, try things like "I'm hungry!".
I see in the manual there are is a hands-free phone shortcut key. I would just like to be able to say "Call Susie Q on Cell" -- which I was able to do with my cheapie hands-free Costco speakerphone in my old car because my Windows Mobile 6.1 phone supports this. It seems that using the shortcut key I could give the command "Dial XXX (name)" and then maybe have to choose which phone number if there are multiples -- but I can't figure out what key that might be. Does anyone know what the shortcut key is?
