true true. things always change. i have no expectations that the service will not have adjusted for market conditions and now that the 2 major players have merged (sorry not up on sat...is there anyone else?) lack of competition does throw the ball into their court. but in 6 months, when my sub is about to expire, i will re-evaluate. i can say with complete certainty, that i will not pay the regular subscription price. i simply dont use it that much

That is one of the Toyota vehicle feature programmers.

    It should be perfectly obvious.

I just called and asked about the XM traffic and they quote me $12.99 a month? What is the cheapest price a month to just get the XM traffic?

Sorry if this was already mentioned in the thread.

XM has a promotion going right now where new signups done over the phone can get a $100 Visa cash card. You must be a new customer and you must call them to sign up (and you need to mention REWARDS VISA OFFER to get the $100 by mail).

    More information on their site:

the small print at the bottom is interesting.. they charge you a activation fee and a penalty if you cancel "understandable".. so if you count the minimum 12.95/mo from inception (130.00 a year) and the activation fee, your into it for 145.00 minus the 100.00 they give back.... not a bad deal, but not as good as it may first appear.
Of course "other fees and taxes" too.

$9.95 traffic only per month, or $3.99 per month with an audio subscription. No multi-year or other discounts on traffic.

I renewed my expired XM radio subscription for $77 plus $47 for traffic. plus some fees for a total of $135 year. Call the 800 number and ask for $77 deal. I didn't speak to a supervisor. Call center rep handled the whole transaction. Just ask!

I believe (although not 100% sure) that all new XM signups are subject to contract termination fee ($75) and activation fee now

Over $100 per year for Traffic alone?

I thought one could get it for about $47 per year.

15 minutes of cajoling, and I finally got the $77 rate. At first, I got the same line as others about "you have to wait for us to offer you the special -- you can't ask for it." I finally got it when I told the CS person that if I have to wait, I will not renew. Suddenly, all things became possible and I was re-subscribed within a minute. It shouldn't be this hard...or, maybe I'm just too much of a cheapskate.

Perhaps the "Traffic" service is $47 if added to the XM-Radio,
but around $100 alone (if you do not buy the "bundle")?

Yeah, the nav traffic is $3.99 a month if you have an active xm radio sub as well.

I called on the $77 package w/o the traffic update; they of July XM is adding a music royalty fee of $11.00 plus local taxes etc.
Has anyone else expirenced this royalty fee?

Tell them you wont pay it and see if they are still interested.

Not sure if you can argue about the tax.

Yes, when I called about a month ago $11.78 for royalties (whatever that means) was added to the $77 fee. Which of course means it's not a $77 fee it's an $88.78 fee. But they said if you didn't want to pay the $11.78, you could sign up at the regular rate of $144 with no royalty fee so that made it optional. Of course I could have said no thanks but I went ahead and bought a year for the $88.78 price, don't know if I could have gotten them down or not.

The fee is very negotiable. Just say you'll be canceling if its on there. They'll give you a good deal without it, I'm sure.
