Just drove home in my new Seaside Pearl Package 4! I, of course, have been all over PriusChat while waiting for far too long to get it. I promptly showed off to all of my neighbors, taking them for rides and answering their questions. No, I don't have to plug it in to charge it. Fun Surprises: Those little windows near the windshield, was surprised that during all of my pre-purchase research I had never noticed them. Finding all the hidden storage spots. Reading in the owners manual that the front seats go flat. My only gripe at this point is that after leaving the dealership, which closed for the night as I drove off, I noticed that the steering wheel was turned at almost 11 o'clock position when driving straight. Does alignment work the same in the Prius as in standard cars? Is this a computer controlled setting? I'm planning on calling the dealer first thing tomorrow, but thought maybe someone here had some insight as well. I have a nice long list of mods I want to do, not sure where I will begin. I want the EV switch, but my overly cautious wife is concerned about the warranty. I am going to do is turn off the annoying reverse beep as soon as I am done with this post and look up the instructions again. Anyway, I am now a proud new Prius owner!
[font=Comic Sans MS:8b2c1bb09a]Congratulations, PriusInMo! You will love this car. By all means get the steering wheel centered immediately. Why drive sideways? Let us know what mods you make. Have fun and "Just drive it!"[/font:8b2c1bb09a]
Great minds think alike (same color, same package)! In the next few weeks/months, you're liable to learn that you had forgotten how much fun driving could be. Enjoy the experience, and spread the word.
Congrats, Seaside is a great color. What part of Missouri are you in? Which dealership did you get it at? I'm originally from Missouri (St. Louis, Kirkwood area)...just curious. Again, congrats. Dave.
Definately take it in for an alignment. Many of us have found that the toe was out of alignment causing the steering wheel to be off--due to the way the car is strapped down during shipping has been the presumptive cause. Where are you in MO? I'm in Springfield and we have a couple other new owners in the Sprinfield area.
my husband has found a completely reversible (in theory) way to leave no trace of EV switch installation. i will post more details when we get all the details figured out and he's around to describe all the parts he used. in short, we scavenged some wires and connectors from his 88 Camry and if the car ever has to go to the dealer, we can take out the switch with no permanent marks from installation (except marks on the dimmer switch wires from wire taps)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(galaxee\";p=\"99773)</div> I think you posted this in the wrong thread, but please let us know what you did - I think many would like a "quick disconnect" for the EV switch as an option.
I was addressing PriusInMo's wife's concern about there being a warranty issue. If it's completely reversible... we can avoid any warranty issue. But yes, I will post more info when we get back from vacation.
To efusco and Hyrbrid Dave, I live in O'Fallon, MO just off of I-70 and bought the car at Straatman Toyota in Washington, MO. It is further from me than most Toyota dealers in the St. Louis area, but they required no deposit and they have the best prices on non-Prius Toyotas. Oh, and the hour long drive home through the winding and hilly Missouri wine country was great! Yes, we have VERY good wine in Missouri. I took it in yesterday for an alignment. I'm very glad I did. Things were WAY off. Front Toe Min -0.10 Nominal 0.00 Max 0.10 Left 0.85 Right -0.22 Rear Toe Min -0.03 Nominal 0.15 Max 0.28 Left 0.52 Right 0.51 It ended up being a three hour alignment job because of the rears being out of alignment. Final numbers 0.01, 0.02, 0.16, 0.25. As a courtesy for having to come back and the longer than anticipated shop time, they filled my tank for me. My low fuel had beeped on the way, it was on 1 light on fuel gauge, and I had driven in thinking I'd gas for the first time after the alignment. When I heard they had gassed it for me, I must admit I had mixed feelings! Of course I was happy to have free gas, but I was disappointed not knowing how much it took to fill. I asked about it, and while they couldn't remember the gallons, they said they put in $21.90, gas being about 2.19 a gallon in that area, I figure 10 gallons is a good guess. ODO read right at 400. Not bad considering the first several days I kept running down the battery playing with everything. The bad alignment probably didn't help any either. As far as the EV switch, I want the OEM one from Japan. Has anyone asked a dealer to install it to see what they say? Other things I will do as time and my wife permit (she thinks it is her car, I let her think that), the auto locks, probably color matched mud flaps, the signal mirrors, and some top secret stuff! Does anyone know what the pixel resolution is on the touch screen? Where is the microphone located on the package 6? Is the plural of Prius Prii? So many questions and plans, and I haven't even had it a week yet.
The mic's above you in the overhead console. I have no idea what the res is and as for plural of Prius, use any form you want.
PriusinMO, Congrats on the new Prius. I join the club in 10 days myself. Found a car near where I was vacationing in the Upper Peninsula. OH, and I'm from Kansas City. Chap Soon to own an '05 Tideland #1
I believe the resolution is 800x480 interlaced using RGBS. There was a thread in trying to make an interface for a rear camera before Dave announced he finally finished a prototype.
Congrads., got mine about 2 wks ago down here in Texas., love it...got the beep off easy, takes a few tries., but no more beep, it's in the owner manual how to do it..Enjoy your new car IA
