Hi John. See my post at "Rear Hatch Wiper Blade Replacement" - (to Forte88) I think a lot of Prius owners would appreciate using "Refills" themselves. Best Regards

At the dealer. There are likely cheaper options, but it's nice knowing that's all the further you'd need to go to find them.

I would like to congratulate Toyota on the stupidest design for a product that has been around for many years and thats the read wiper blade. It cost me 8. for replacement at Toyota and installed myself. Installation to about 15 minutes trying to thread the 2 stupid wires.

I changed mine 3 weeks ago. It has a small tab that you pull or push in..at the same time you pull the blade off of the wiper arm. Then you slide the new blade on. Make sure it snaps in tug it fairly hard to be sure it's locked into place.

Can someone confirm the part number for the rear wiper insert (just the rubber part)?

I went to one dealer that gave me the wrong insert - way too short, and for a 4Runner. A co-worker with a 4Runner got that one as a gift. I didn't have the part number to give the parts guy, so he screwed up when he checked the computer. I screwed up by not checking the size of the insert before leaving the dealer lot.

I tried another dealer closer to work, this time armed with the part number from John's guide linked earlier in this topic. The parts guy said his shop only replaces the whole blade and they don't stock inserts. He also said the part number I gave was for an item that cost more than the blade. Considering I only paid $3 for the 4Runner insert, something didn't seem right, so I left. Lunch hour wasted.

This other wiper topic has several mentions of 85214-10100 as the insert, versus 85124-44140 in John's guide (last updated 2005). Another poster wrote 85214‑47010 for the insert.

So what's the correct number for the rear wiper insert? It's easy to replace, and I'd much rather pay $3 than $18.

alanh's 3/15/2009 post is correct, 85214-47010 is the correct part number.

Rear wiper blade part number lookup and installation videos

You can lookup most, if not all of the specialized rear wiper blades here.

Here are wiper blade installation videos for both front and rear. Most Toyota's take the xx-A or xx-F attachments for the rear wiper.

The easiest way is to look up the wiper part numbers first, then go to the video page and watch the exact videos for the part numbers.

    Hope this helps.

I located it once but anyone know where to get the entire rear arm to a slide/clip other than sigma? I have another to replace and the generic wipers are so much nicer. Just can't find the site.

I bought a set front and back a few days ago from the dealer and the single rear hatchback wiper complete with u hook arm part number reading right off the part bag is:

    Wiper Blade 650 mm
    U Hook Type Connector
    85222-YZZ18-TM

Which is the rubber blade and the arm that it slides into.
The rubber replacement is a pain to do by itself. The arm is so much easier.

I replaced all of mine last year. This was the first time I had ever thought of just putting in inserts. It was incredibly easy, in fact I put the new inserts in right outside of Kragens, where I bought them. Don't mess with part #s and dealers and expensive wiper arm assy's. They have been on for one year and working great. Oh and I did front and back, with wipers installed and still had enough for at least one more blade! :cheer2: Costs: 3.00

I have not tried blade replacement on a Toyota before. I tried it on
another car I had a while ago and it did not work out so well.
Middle of a rainstorm arm holder assy failed after I had put new inserts in and the rubber would not stay in the holder. Resulting in metal across the window in a rainstorm.

I swore never again to cheap out on an important safety device. Since mine are now more than 3 years old anyway.

But maybe Toy's wiper holders are better quality.

Yeah down here the sun seems to eat up pot metal pretty good.
But like I said maybe the Prius's wiper holders are better quality.
Last summer here it rained almost everyday so they get a workout.

    Oops. I boo booed.

I listed the wrong part number for the rear hatchback wiper arm assy from Toyota. Looking at the 3 bags I assumed it was the larger of the 3 but its not. And the arm itself is completly different. Its molded plastic.
