OK, so I ordered my Gen III on Saturday and was told that the salesman would find the car / or order it on Monday. I called today, after not hearing from the salesman and he said he would call me right back. I had not heard from him six hours later so I called again. Once again, called, told he would call back, and he didn't. This is just after four days! I'm going to lose my mind!
I hear ya! I work at the dealership, ordered one before they were officially released, and have been dying to get my car. Mine was produced in June and should arrive the first week of July. I'm asking our processing center to rush my vehicle, but of course the regular customer is the priority. I drive it a few times a week when we don't have customers waiting to drive it. I totally know how customers feel when they have to back order cars. I've never experienced this before and it's tough. I just ordered a 2010 Tacoma for a customer today that is scheduled to be produced in Sept. and arrive in Oct. Imagine that!
No excuse for not calling you back. Try other Toyota dealers in your area. I place a deposit down for a 2010 Prius V at 6 dealerships in my area. It increase my chance of obtaining a 2010 Prius V. Brought a 2010 Prius V from dealer #6 on May 29th.
That gets a little expensive, no? Were you able to get any refunds? As far as not calling back, we do not have a lot of dealers in the area. I had called a dealer in a larger city, about an hour and a half away. I couldn't even get a call back from an initial conversation, let alone get on the waiting list.
UGH! Is there something special about the '10 Taco? I had a '95(first year) that was great! I loved that truck, but it is still in the family at least. Can you get money from the dealership to replace carpet after you've worn it out from pacing?
Wow, you are impatient. Most people wait weeks or months before they get this impatient. Actually I understand the impatience with the returned phone call. I would visit the dealer, ask for the salesperson and get an update. Sales people are really bad with computers and phones from my past experience. They like to see people and talk. If he's not there or puts you off, I'd stand in the middle of the floor and loudly proclaim you're looking for a saleperson who wants your commission and will earn it by responding timely to your questions and concerns.
If you continue to be impatient, you may want to look at dealers further away. There have been several stories in the forums here, where people will travel to another State, and then drive back. I think Jabber who work in Northern IL has had people from TN, NY, and other states travel to see him, get their car and then drive it back home.
Patience, patience my child. All good things will come to those who wait! At the time I placed a firm order - non-refundable deposit - I was told that it would likely be 8 weeks before my IIIBLUEII arrived. Two weeks later as we were passing through Lewiston we stopped by the dealership and discovered that they had the VIN number of our car indicating that it was on the ground in the US. That was a Tuesday and the car arrived that Friday! Unfortunately I did not have my financing finalized so had to wait til the next Wednesday to pick the rig up - 3 1/2 weeks after placing the order. So be patient, your turn will arrive and likely quicker than you might expect.
wvgasguy is correct. There are a lot of salespeople that work much better for you when you are standing in front of them. Not an excuse for them, just a fact. If you are at the dealership, you are showing how much more serious you are and they will be more attentive to you. You might want to try wvgasguy's advice.
Hey Martin - I just looked at your Prius photos - BEEEEUUUTIFUL! Gorgeous countryside (and the car looks nice too!)
Phunkopathic; You may want to consider that Columbia is a relatively small town, and their dealer is alocated cars on their previous 6 months sales of any given vehicle, so the odds of them being alocated the specific Prius in the package (and in the color) you want is NOT high. Since you live in Columbia, most of the dealers in your area are goin to be in the K.C. Region (this is the area who distributes the various cars to the respective dealers), you will stand a better chance of obtaining what you're lookin for if you'll find a larger dealer, i.e. Kansas City dealers, Shawnee Mission/Olathe Kansas dealers. Check out some of their Web Sites. Olathe Toyota's Web Site (last time I checked) shows 16 Prius In Stock (In Stock = units on the ground and in their posession, Available = cars that are available to them from other dealers). Good Luck, and a sales person who doesn't call back...NO EXCUSE! David (aka Blind Guy)
Thanks for the idea. I actually got ahold of the salesman today and he stated that he would have more news tomorrow. I called Molle in KC first and the same thing happened, no return phone call (after our first conversation). A day and a half later, I called again and the operator was supposed to connect me to a mgr. However, after several different people picking up and telling me to hold, I was told that the mgrs were busy, and they would call me back. They did not. Maybe it's me. lol Depending on what I hear tomorrow, I will maybe give Olathe a call. Third times the charm, right?
Well, after four months (and yes, I know that wait is not bad), Yoshi the WonderPrius is on her way. It is slated to be at the dealership on Monday. It was the first time I've heard from the salesperson / dealer since we closed the deal and came as quite of a surprise. In fact the Friday they called (three weeks ago?) we had made the decision that on Monday I was going in to cancel the order. Anyway, it's coming now... Black.
There is no excuse for saying he would call back and then did not. I smile at your title "Impatient" and the fact you posted after 4 days. I have been waiting for 4 months since ordering mine and have about 2 more weeks to go supposedly.
Yeah, but the whole thing with not being called was driving me nuts. I'm just glad the whole ordeal is almost over.
I wonder if these dealerships are yanking people's chains. When I went in I was told to give my top two color options and when I told them I didn't have a 2nd choice they told me it would take months to get. I said fine. Then I contacted other dealers who quoted me a higher price but said they could get the car in a few weeks. I shared this w/the dealer I was working w/ and how I needed a car sooner than later. My car magically came a few days later. My total wait was 3 weeks.
