That is the best deal on a pkg II I have seen. I got mine for - 400 off MSRP during C4C (quote was just before the program started and honored into the program).

    - 650 off MSRP on a base model is pretty fantastic.

I am amazed that we can easily see 10,000+ differences in price based on the higher options.

I have had mine a month and a half and 1500 miles and I still have as much fun driving it as the day I brought it home; enjoy.

I think $500 off MSRP is pretty much the standard about now (except for some moronic dealers who still think they have control). I asked for $500 off MSRP and told him I didnt need the floor mats since I could buy them seperately for less than $100. He countered with $500 off MSRP and paying $75 for the mats which gave me a total discount of $625.

The finance gal tried to sell me the warranty + maint pkg for some "bargain price" but since I had read here that I could buy right upto before the end of 36mnths/36k miles, I politely refused.

However, since I was paying cash for the car, they didnt do any of my paperwork with the WI DMV since I bought the car from an IL dealer. I had to suck it up and go during my lunch hour to finish paying the taxes and get plates. They still charged me a $151 doc fee for doing nothing.

Also, they didnt accept more than 3K on my credit card. I was hoping for some cash back from my credit card if I could have put the whole car on it. Always wanted to do that :D Oh well next time.

:D Bummer about the credit card, but it was a good idea. And too bad about the doc fee, especially when you did the work, but ours are even higher. I had no luck getting them to decrease that fee, though they did come down on other fees. I think you did very well overall.

Maybe what I found in my search will be of use to those who are shopping. Of course, your mileage and your shopping style may vary. :)

About MSRP, I did not find less than MSRP on the car I wanted in my search of multiple states (mostly in the southeast), but I am glad if others do. I was surprised, however, at how the bottom line (that is, the out-the-door price) could vary. For example, some dealers would admit right up front that they charge MSRP plus $500 or $1000 or $2000 for certain Prius cars. And other dealers would say they charge nothing over MSRP.

Initially, it certainly seemed logical NOT to shop those dealerships that charged greater than MSRP. But, I was surprised to find that SOMETIMES the dealerships that charged greater than MSRP actually had a LOWER out-the-door price than dealerships that did NOT charge greater than MSRP. It all had to do with the other fees each dealership did or did not charge, or the amount of said fees. Those fees might - or might not - include Southeastern Toyota fees, admin/legal fees, inspection fees, and other potential fees that I can't remember.

In any case, I always asked for a itemized print-out of the MSRP plus all the fees, and I also made sure I asked for the absolute out-the-door price in writing for every car I shopped, so I could compare the bottom line prices of cars at various dealerships. This kept me from letting terminology alone from being a deciding factor. "MSRP with no premium added!" can sound great, and sometimes it is, but if they end up adding a number of (creative) fees to that MSRP, you might be better off at a different dealer in your state or in another state altogether.

My advice is: 1) Be sure you know the out-the-door price, no matter where you shop. 2) You may end up eventually ruling out dealers who charge more than MSRP, but in the beginning, go ahead and collect info from them (I got a lot through email quotes), including all fees and the out-the-door price. Then compare to multiple other dealers and find out who will actually give you the best bottom line. You may be surprised. 3) NICELY let your favorite dealership know you would love to do business with them, but of course you have to look around. And then NICELY update them as to what you find while shopping, if appropriate. If they know you are looking, and they see your lower quotes from others in writing, it lets them know you are serious about buying and informed about what is out there. And sometimes they will decide to adjust fees or MSRP in order to get your business and not have it go to their competitor. Happy shopping!

I am currently looking, and trying to decide on a 2010 Prius, or a G2 Prius...
Anyway, I am getting mine off an auction website that sells clean Prii for under $7,000.00! The catch? You need a dealer license, witch one of my family members have.

300 off MSRP. No Doc fees at all. Free mats. Absolutely no pressure selling of the car or any aftermarket products. Here in SET it was refreshing to ask for a car with NOTHING added and get it (except for the free mats!). Prices are listed on their website.

Very nice dealer! I know my dealer did that for another lady I met the other night. However, when I came in I had already lost because I wanted all the goodies. :) In retrospect I wouldn't have done it though, as I really think I could have done without them. However... I love my car (Anya) and She's not going ANYWHERE. =D

Back in 2006 when I wanted a new Prius the dealers in the bay area wanted as much as 2500 over MSRP. When I approached one about ordering a car they said that I have to be flexible with option package and color. Yea right, I order it, pay up front with a down payment, and they sell it for more to someone else because they were greedy. I said no thanks. I faxed every dealer with exactly what I wanted. Deal and Davey called back from Susanville and said they would sell me the exact car I ordered, I did not need to be flexible with anything, and that they could get it in about 6 - 8 weeks at 800$ off MSRP. I sent them 2000$ and sealed the deal. True to their word, they contacted me 7 weeks later saying they had my car. I was on a road trip in Victoria Canada at the time. I told them I would pick it up in 3 days.
My wife and I arrived in Susanville and after 10 minutes of paperwork we were on our way. It was so easy! There was some snafu with financing and they let me drive the car away even with that problem and said that I would have to see the finance people when I got home and take care of the mix up. They were very nice on every aspect of the deal.
I drove home in the exact car I odered and for 800$ below anyone here and with absolutely 0 trouble or time. I bought a package 6 in pine mica green with leather, nav, blutooth, etc. Nice car.
I will never again buy from anyone else even though its 250 miles from home. Deal and Davey has a customer for life and imagine my surprise. They are the oldest Toyota dealer in the US.

On another note, I wanted HOV stickers but did not yet have plates. I called Deal and Davey and they rushed the DMV and fed exd the plates to me in a week. Here, in the SF bay area, you are lucky to get plates in 3 months. Then, you needed plates to get your HOV stickers and there was a time limit on their availability. Deal and Davey came through allowing me to order the HOV stickers. I will never go anywhere else.

Me too!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Jim Barkley Toyota. They give 300 off MSRP to everyone, it's pretty standard, it seems. They also don't add the Toyoguard. They seem to have a lot of stock too- and they let you know when new cars are due in.

Dealer in Seattle called me last night to offer a Prius 3 for the price of a package 2. It was the last day of the month & he has had them sitting on his lot for a bit now.

I declined because I'm still deciding between an Insight or Prius. Plus I'm not making a move until I get get the snow driving reports. The aggressive traction control problem has to be fixed before I buy this car so I can at least drive up my driveway.

That's a bargain frogpond1! I paid $23,300 for my '10 II. Included tinted windows, basic bluetooth and nitrogen filled tires. I'd jump on it. Looking back, I would have liked to have the solar roof and remot a/c start. Also came with floor mats.

Considering the III's MSRP is 23750 with nothing and they're cutting it by 600 and offering floor mats and including the doc./reg. fees yep we're jumping on it.

Nitrogen filled tires, heh? More like nitrogen filled salesman. Sorry to knock on yah but that's the biggest bunch of phooey I've ever heard. That's like rust and paint protection, sorry but all that protection already comes from the factory. By the way the II's MSRP is 22750

I have been anxiously awaiting making this post. Been lurking for a while and this forum really helped me get a good price.

Just finalized last night, 2010 III Blizzard Pearl with bumper applique and preferred accessory package (cargo net, first aid kit). Got the dealer to come down $400 off MSRP to 23,919.

A week ago, had I heard 400 off MSRP, I would have thought I didnt get a great deal, but the way these have been selling, I think I did OK.

And then they tried to hit me for $2500 for the extended warranty. Nice.

Most of the dealers on Long Island make you think that they are doing you a favor by selling it to you at "just" MSRP. One of them tacks on a bogus $700 for prep and documentation. Try this website - you will find discounts up to $500 over dealer invoice: Overstock | Car Buying Home Page
This is how I located my car.

    HEY MODERATOR!
Might be time to break up this thread into
How much you paid for Gen III and
How much you paid for Gen II used (and some 2009 new).
It would be easier to read, even if you are looking at both new and used cars.
    Thanks,

Just picked my Prius Package II last week. I was planning to wait until supply caught up with demand, but recently got into an accident that totaled my vehicle and with the looming price increase, the best I could do was $600 off MSRP at DCH Toyota in Simi Valley. It was Black color Package II with the Preferred Premium accessory package (floor mats, cargo net, first aid kit), wheel locks, rear bumper appliqué, sticker was $23166, so got it for $22566 plus tax and license. In CA, the doc fee is a standard $55. Black was not my first choice, as it's hard to keep clean, but I was flexible in color, and was more concerned about price, so I got an OK deal under the circumstances.

They are offering a standard $600 off every Prius on the lot. Feel free to PM me if you want the name of the sales manager.
