Will the seats from a 2008 touring edition fit a 2009 base model? Have found a complete set I might consider for spares if it is a bolt-in.

The seats in the 2008 Touring and 2009 Standard/Base should be identical.

Why would you keep a couple of seats around for spares?

Have kids and it would be cheaper than seat covers. Would the 2008 seats have the seat air bags like my 2009 seats have or was it an option?

Yes, both the 2008 and 2009 front seats will have the side airbags. You should see that airbag tag sticking out of the front seats.

Now I understand your desire to have spares. I myself got a full set of new OEM cloth seat covers from eBay for around $50. OEM seat covers become available when aftermarket leather seat covers are installed. They show up periodically on eBay, but the last time I checked, the vendors were asking for more than $50 (they seem to have gotten wise to the fact that they could get more than $50 for them). I used one front seat bottom to replace my driver's seat bottom that got damaged. I'm keeping the rest of the set in case I ever need them. But a downside to OEM seat covers is they either require a professional auto upholsterer to install them, or they're a real PITA to install yourself.

I have an 08 RG seat on my 09 SG and I was told by Badx that it was better to work with than the 09 since it had more padding than an 09. The seat has worked great for my wife and I and I will get it modded this winter.
