I have a brand new prius. When I turn a corner to the right and go over a bump in the road it sounds like my rear passanger tire is rubbing on my fender well. Anyone had the same experience?
Re: Welcome the new Gen III Prius forum moderators! LOL Well, if the new moderators haven't had to move a thread to it's correct place...now is the time!! ROFLOL Wow...
Re: Welcome the new Gen III Prius forum moderators! I was going to comment on it this morning but I was laughing to hard and simply left to go make coffee lol
Re: Welcome the new Gen III Prius forum moderators! Yea, duely moved. First post no less... and what a hijack!
If it's reproducible, get your friendly local service department to take a peek - that's what the Warranty is there for! Also, look for evidence of rubbing either on the fender itself or the tire.
I am experiencing the exact same thing with my 2 month old 2010. Did you find out what it was? I was planning on bringing it in to have them look at it next week, but would appreciate any info you can pass on. Its driving me nuts!
Have you had larger wheels fitted on a Prius II? The standard wheels are 15" with a 195/65 R15 tyre; wider tyres (larger first number) will likely rub at full lock. The Prius V, which comes with 17" wheels, has less lock and a wider turning circle precisely to avoid this issue.
This is caused by the road surface and you are actually lucky to have a car that exhibits this characteristic. Many people, especially rock musicians, love the sound of a Fender Roads.* http://www.fenderrhodes.com/models/mark1a.php *I'm so sorry but I couldn't resist.
