Hi folks, Don't know if this is the right forum or not but I will give it a shot. I just got my Motorola V551 phones (one for me and one for my wife). They work great with the car. We are thrilled. However, when I went to add my wife's phone to the car after I had already loaded mine, the car didn't want to recognize mine anymore. When I went to get into the car with my phone it came up "Bluetooth connection unsucessful". (Yes, my phone was turned on and Bluetooth enabled). Is the system not capable of supporting two phones simultaneously? Any thoughts as to what might be going on here? Thanks in advance for any help. Dan
Well, we don't have our second phone yet so this is speculation. When our Treo is paired, the Prius will show a name that corresponds to the name we use to sync it with the PC. I assume that when we do get our second Treo, it will have to use a different name so that the Prius (and the PC) can distinguish it from the first one. I honestly can't remember if I entered the name when I first paired with the Prius or if the Prius just used the existing sync name. Is there any chance that you have phones that can't be distinguished from each other because they don't have unique names?
You can pair more than one Bluetooth phone but you can only use one at a time. There is a place on the screen to choose which one.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(bandgeek\";p=\"99525)</div> Interesting to hear you say that. My brother and I each have our own Prius and Motorola V710s. I find the bluetooth reception through the car system very "boomy" and the people I am speaking with often have difficulty understanding me. I have seriously been considering going back to the phone and Bluetooth earpiece. Could the poor quality of the transmission/reception be a function of the phone rather than the Prius system??
Hey popoff, I don't know if your problem is related to your phone or not. All I can say is that so far my V551 has worked flawlessly. Reception is very clear through the speakers, even at highway speeds. The people on the other end haven't seemed to complain about hearing me. JRFARIS - I am illiterate when it comes to this stuff. What do you mean by synching your phone. I noticed something about synching under the connections submenu of my tools menu but I have no idea what this is or what it does. Help??!! Thanks, Dan
By sync, I mean the process by which you transfer phone numbers into a cell phone from a PC (or vice versa). It's not really important to the naming question I was raising. However, after seeing KathyY's post, she may have identified the problem. Did you by any chance have your wife's phone in the car when you were trying to use yours? If her phone was recognized first by the Prius, then you would have to manually select your phone from the settings screen. Can you see more than one phone listed when you try to select phone? You can have up to 4 phones that the Prius will pair with but only one at a time.
[font=Comic Sans MS:2d2172a274]I don't know if this will help, Dan, but you may want to name your phone and your wife's phone differently. It may be that the Prius doesn't know who it's talking to. The Prius' Bluetooth implementation is not cutting-edge...[/font:2d2172a274]
