I am playing with my new navigation/satellite/radio system and have a question. You can select a button called "text" and it will display the artist and song title. But then the screen always goes back to the default (map or set up). Is there a way to have the text scroll along the screen? I know an old CD player I had would do it with my CDs. Also, only 1 of the 4 CDs I put in found 'data' to give me the name of each song. Is there a way to search or either the CD has it or not? Oh, and with the screen always going back to a 'default'...is there a way to stop it from doing that?!!?! If I want to go back to map or set up, i would like to hit the back button on my own. Thanks for humoring the newbie!!! (and feel free to say 'read your manual'...but it is SO long!) lol
There's a menu setting to have the system stop going back to the NAV screen, which was one of the first things I changed. That allows me to put it on audio with text on, and see that information without it flipping back a few seconds later to the NAV screen. For the life of me I can't remember the button pushes, but try Setup, NAVI, then look from there for that option and toggle it to not do that.
It'll be under SETUP.. hmm maybe it's GENERAL in the new nav or maybe NAVI? But yes there is an option to make it stay at a particular screen and not automatically switch back to the navigation screen. Most store-bought CDs don't have CD-TEXT. You'll have to burn a copy yourself and ensure that CD-TEXT is enabled before you burn a copy.
But still no option to have text across top of screen....like where it shows radio station number??? I noticed some stations have text that scrolls across...why can't satellite radio do that with their artist/song name cause it is there!!!
No. You have to go to the Audio screen that shows the Artist, Album and Folder Name. That'll give you everything. That's station specific. In my area, one station will scroll the song title and artist across the title (which is annoying), the other stations simply show their radio station name (which is what I expected)
Does the JBL radio -- the one on a 2010 Prius III -- have the ability to display CD Text for the name of the song playing on the CD? Or the ability to display radio station song information the way my 2005 Prius does? Or do I need to get the Nav system to display song info?
Radio does not display text, CD and satellite do display it. On the XM satellite, it displays whatever you displayed on the last station--station, artist, or title, so when you change channels you get the same info as the last selection.
I have a gen II without nav. I can't get any text unless I am at a standstill, like the phonebook "kill" on the BT telephone interface. There is a little scrolling on the audio screen that is annoying while underway, however. I feel it's more distracting to watch the scroll to figure out a song name than to just glance and read it like in other cars. It sounds like the gen III allows you to keep the text option on the screen while moving. Is that correct? Can I overcome the safety feature on my car?
If you have the NAV system, when you are tuned to FM stations that broadcast using RDS, the song information scrolls past on the Preset Button for that station. If you are tuned to Satellite, then you need to press the Text button to see the information, and it does not scroll, it just cuts off.
My 10 prius has that button but I do not have nav. It dosnt do anything that I've seen. Or is it just me not selecting something?
