We picked up our Prius yesterday. (Yay!) When we were inspecting it during the delivery, while running our hands over the seats and the seams we noticed that it felt like a sticky coating was on the cloth. Has anyone else experienced this?
NOPE! No sticky coating on upholstry. Peel off clear plastic on some hard parts but not the upsholstery. Better get this squared away with your dealer pronto YUK! Make the dealer lick it off tonight!!! Bob
Could this be some aftermarket "fabric preservative" that some dealers are supposed to offer (at a large markup) as an optional part of their dealer prep service? I read about it over at Cars.com's "buying a car" step-by-step article. Maybe your Toyota dealership does this.
Well it could be a fabric cleaner or preservative. As I ran my hands over the surface, the tips of my fingers got a little sheen on them.

As per "Manky Mystery Goo" There is no trace today, 6 days after delivery. Maybe it was some water based cleaner which has now dried off. Hmmmmm.....
