This is very disturbing. I hate cars that squeek and rattle.

Sorry to hear of everyone's issues. My 2010 has a little over 8,000 miles and the only odd cabin noises I've noticed are my coffee cup in the console holder. There is a little odd wind noise at the driver's window - right by my ear, of course. :), but it seems to only happen when driving in a crosswind.

In my other cars I use to use a little Armor All in the cracks and seams, and that seems to help in the winter. Of course, the Armor All would only last so long so I would have to repeat the application.

My car has no rattles and creaks- at least none that I can hear over Nevermind via USB blasting from my barely adequate sound system.

I just don't think my car rattles. It is very solid over rough or uneven road surfaces. What I do hear is the odd creak or noise here and there as I drive over bumps.

I really don't think it's any different than other cars except for maybe German or generally expensive luxury cars.

I also had a Passat with 85k, no rattles or squeaks. traded it for my Prius. Rattles and squeaks every day. Nuts is one word to use :-[
Amazing how it didn't make a peep during the test drive. I have 5k miles now and am unhappy with my new car. feel ripped off by Toyota and it's "quality" cars.

I'm really surprised to hear all these reports, there's multiple threads about this. I'm especially surprised after all the terrific reports about fit and finish from new buyers. Hope this doesn't become the norm after people start putting on some miles.

I only have a rattle or creak when it's self generated. I have not bought any inserts for the cupholders or console and if I have change, keys, or anything else, it rattles a little. It can make you think it's the car when in fact in most every case I ran across it was something I put in the glovebox, the upper glovebox, the console or cupholders. (let's not forget the eyeglass holder for those who have that). :)

My Gen III isn't rattling yet but my Gen II and my previous Honda Accords all developed rattles at one time or another but they always self-resolved. I think there's probably something to the weather change theory.

I had nothing but squeaks and buzzes in the 05 Prius we had mostly when cold and all over the dash. So far our 2010 V with 1500 miles now has been squeak free, but I'm waiting for cold weather to decide if it will remain quiet. I hope so as we really like this car. I have an 07 Camry Hybrid as well and had a squeak/buzz in the console that was fixed under warranty and have zero complaints with it since. I think the Camry is an underrated hybrid. This is the first car I've owned in over 40 years that I haven't wanted to trade in after a couple of years. It gets 38 MPG around town and up to 44 on the highway. The Prius is for my wife and she loves it, so I'm happy.

My 2004 Prius squeaks and rattles, but after 100,000 miles I am used to it. My 2010 has a few occasional rattles and I expect that it'll match the 2004.

I think most of the noises are coming from the floating center console. I have this problem too.

Have a rattle coming from the right passenger side, as well as a pronounced creak in the rear of the car especially when I make the right turn into my driveway. Not a great last impression before I turn the car off. Maybe appropriate until Halloween, but certainly not after that.

Salesman found that the top of the small left rear storage in cargo area had not been seated properly, which accounted for some of the rattle, but not all.

I have the same exact issue with my new Prius with 600 miles on it as I posted the issue in another post. It sounds like a baby rattle and is extremely annoying and I'm hoping that it will eventually go away. It started on the drivers side and now I hear it on the passenger side. Hope that there will be a resolution to this soon...

I have to reiterate that even with these rattles I am totally satisfied with my purchase and have absolutely no regrets whatsoever! :thumb:

Mine is 6000 miles 2010 Prius - base package. No noise at all not even a little scouik ! If there are noises it's because i or my girlfriend forgot something loose in a compartiment some where.

What is described here is definitively not Toyota way of doing thing. Don't let Toyota go down the hill rejoigning eventually our beloved GM ! Of course it is manufacturer responsability to have tight quality control measures BUT also we, consumers, have a rhole to play. So don't let things the way they are go to your dealer and scream until no noise is eard at all :)

Well, I'll add mine. I also have a rattle that seems to be coming from the passenger side dash area, hard to locate exactly of course. Only happens on rough pavement or when hitting a bump, sounds like something quite loose.

I bought my former Scion tC the first year it came out, also a hatchback. Rattles were common, one of the main topics on the ScionLife web site.

So, this isn't the first time for Toyota.

With the tC, rattles often got worse in cold weather, so we may hear even more complaints this winter.

You have to realize that the Prius like all other hatchbacks has more structural flex than normal sedans and coupes. Normal cars have a solid structure behind the rear seats that help stiffen the body from torsional flexing when driving.

Hatchbacks do not have any lateral structural connections aft of the dashboard so the body is prone to a lot more flexing which means squeaks and rattles. It is in the nature of the design.

Argh. Just got the rattling from the center console starting a couple of days ago, today was almost constant on the way home (rough LA roads.) Around 3k miles, but the past couple of days have been the coldest since I got the car, so thanks to other posters who mentioned that there might be a relationship between temperature and this issue. I'll have to see if it diminishes when it warms up again.

I have 1500 miles on my car and the rattles and squeaksare EVERYWHERE!!! rear seat, center console, right passenger side... It's not as bad if I am the only one in the car, but if the family is inside, it's really bad....
