The people at your dealership just referred to it as a "Subaru Prius" using the word "Prius" to define a purely hybrid vehicle, much like people call all cola "Coke" or all copy machines "Xerox". You just misunderstood. You have to understand how business works. "Prius" is more valuable to Toyota than just about anything other than the word "Toyota". They're not going to have some other carmake come out with something called a "Prius". It may be on the Prius platform...it may have the HSD...it may actually be a rebadged Prius...but it won't be called "Prius".
Once again i do understand that i am refering to it as the subaru prius this way people understand it is a Subaru Hybrid so they have the conception of what it will be like... The prius may be valuble to toyota, but everything has a price, I AM NOT SAYING IT IS DEFINATELY going to be a subaru prius... It could be the Subaru Legacy Hybrid for all i know. I was just refering to it as they called it in class.. SORRY FOR ANY CONFUSION...
Well...however you are saying it now...thats not what you said originally. Here's what you said: Again...comes back to understanding business. Things like this have no price. It will absolutely not be a Subaru Prius. Remember when Toyota sold the first gen HSD technology to Ford to use in the first gen Escape and Mariner Hybrids? What part of that technology did they not let Ford use? The name "Hybrid Synergy Drive". The name and the branding are more valuable than the technology and design. These names aren't for sale...at any price. It would be like Burger King selling a Big Mac...not going to happen.

I understand it is your salesman side talking. Just to let you know that I disagree on the "best AWD" part. I just hope that Subaru continue to survive. After all, competition is always good for consumers.
There is a RWD sports car in joint development between Subaru and Toyota. Subaru is not building it for Toyota.
That part is true. It is really using the boxer engine. Its first application will most likely be in the Scion tC world. From there, who knows what is possible. It is Toyota that is developing the drivetrain, using the subbie engine. And a word of advice to patandrich. I wouldn't try and use any "salesman" games on the folks here. You will be caught. You will be persecuted. You will be tarred and feathered. And then you will get to post your next message. It happens that fast. Just be honest about your product, be honest about your true feelings about the product (I call Toyota out when something they are doing is foolish to me), and give helpful, straight answers. It will go a much longer way than any other "pre-printed, scripted sales rah rah meeting". Trust me on this.
I think the Subaru Impreza will be out with a redesign late summer of next year as a 2011 model. Maybe it will be a hybrid AWD hatchback. I was thinking about test driving the Legacy, which is now 26 mpg, but I really need a hatchback. The Impreza is quite outdated with it's smaller gas tank and lower mpg (22 mpg). I'll just have to wait for that hybrid AWD hatchback. Only one more year? My car will just barely make it.

But: Using a giant font will not grant any sort of battery a waiver from the[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation_of_energy"] law of conservation of energy[/ame] or [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_law_of_thermodynamics"]first law of thermodynamics[/ame]. Anyone who believes that any normal sized electric or hybrid car with any respectable plug-in range can be fully recharged from a standard household 120V outlet in just 15 minutes, needs to retake their high school science class.
The current Impreza is a 2008 model year design, I would not expect a major bodywork design until the 2014 model. Drivetrain upgrades are largely independent of bodywork, however.
New Impreza Coming in 2011 - with lower cost and better MPG - NASIOC "Fuji Heavy Industries plans to roll out an all-new Impreza in 2011, which will consume 30% less fuel than the current Impreza." That would make it go from 22 to 29 mpg. Hopefully, that's for the base model with the hybrid getting 35+. "The first generation Impreza was released back in 1992. The latest was released in 2007 as the third generation Impreza." Oops. That would mean it's late summer of 2011 for a 2012 model. Not sure how they can do that with the new Legacy making the identically priced Impeza Outback Sport obsolete in so many ways, e.g., fuel economy, tank size, interiors, comfort.
