Just joined the club, got my Gen III Package V Winter Grey w/o Adv Tech last weekend. Loving it. Driving around Los Angeles today, I swear the driver and passenger of another grey Prius (Gen II) both made some "hands down" sign language at me. Congenial, not hostile. Are there some hand signals I need to get on board with?
Well there's the one you sometimes get from Hummer drivers, but that's probably not the kind your mean. Actually I have been waving at Prius drivers around here since I got my car and haven't even got one to wave back yet. Maybe it's because I don't know the secret sign?
I usually get the shaking fist gang sign followed by a blow of the horn. I'm not sure if I've entered a gang unknowingly or if other drivers want to kill me for going 2 mph under the speed limit.
Ever since I got my Prius I tried to wave at other prius owners but, nothing in return... I eventually just stopped trying. It seems people pass me much more now that I'm driving a Prius. I think that they think they gain something by passing someone driving a "Prius". I also get "looked at" when being passes.. Oh gosh.. the wonders of the Prius eh?
A friend of mine who lives in the 'hood tells me those whisper-quiet Priuses are popular for drive-by shooting.
