Hi this is stupid. Can someone tell me what the map button is for on the steering wheel above the info button on my 2008 prius. When pushed it says something about unavailable not connected. I have looked in the owners manual and can't find anything about it. Thanks
If your system has a GPS it brings up the GPS map. I thought you only had that button if your Prius had GPS. How many buttons surround the center display? Did you buy your Prius new or used?
Yea, I think pdhenry is onto something. Sounds like you have a used car that had a NAV system that is either broken, disconnected, or has been removed. You can start by looking under the driver's seat to see if there's a box there. If so, that's your NAV. Check that there are no loose, broken or disconnected cables. If those look ok go to the back of the driver's seat, open the sliding door, hit "eject"...see if there's a DVD in there. If not, the previous owner may have removed it and all you need to do is replace the disk. It's possible that there's something else broken and or disconnected elsewhere, but those places will be harder to get to and troubleshoot. BTW, on the bezel of your MFD, do you have a MAP and NAV button? What happens when you hit those?
I don't recall all the specifics, but there is a package that has the MAP on the wheel, but no GPS unit. My 2009 has the same thing. I guess it was to cut down on the number of steering wheel button combinations (I do have BT). ETA: I do not have the MAP/NAV buttons on the bezel. Just the climate, audio, display, and info.
2 buttons on each side of screen and no sign of box under seat. Think Politburo has nailed it. How do I find out which package I have. Called Toyota with vin and they couldnt tell me maybe I need to call a different dealer. Thanks Guys
Sounds like it. Or you can figure it out here:http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/16803-prius-packages.html
