stopped off at a Discount tire shop to have some air put in the light came on showing low,the guy said the tires are looking worn and need to be replaced soon. I have about 35,000 miles on them does that sound about right? anf if so any advice on replacements Thanks 2008 Prius
Yes, it's quite possible that the stock tires need replacing by 35,000 miles. There is a thread here: priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-fuel-economy/68800-tire-rack-pits-integrity-against-energy-saver-ecopia-fuel-max.html which lists the results from Tire Rack's comparison of tires on a Gen II Prius. I got a set of Ecopias and am very happy with them. I also increased the tire pressure to 42/40. So it's hard to know what's due to the new tires and what's due to the changed tire pressure, but it's been immediately clear that: The ride is quieter The car grips the road better, especially in turns and steep curves Mileage went up about 3 mpg Small bumps in the road surface are felt more clearly (probably due to the increased tire pressure)
