A minor thing but it has been bugging me lately. My new Prius does not have those little hooks that keep the carpet style floor mat down on the driver's side. The holes are there but nothing else. Did yours have hooks?
You should have gotten them with the carpets so talk to your dealer and see if they'll give you a set. There's also thread around here where someone found a source for them. IIRC, they were very inexpensive.
My driver side carpet mats have the hooks to anchor them down. Suggest you check with your dealer and have them install the hooks.
Thanks, I will go into the dealer and see what the deal was. It was during CFC days and things were hectic at the store but, wouldn't they have been put in at the port? The optional carpets were listed on the window sticker, though I did not ask, want or pay for them. Well, I did pay, one way or the other!
If you are referring to carpeted floor mats, they should be standard not optional. At least, that's how it is in Canada. I got the extra all-weather mats thrown in the deal.
In the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region the floor mats, whether carpeted or all-weather, are an option. An option that may be included with the car and listed on the Monroney sticker, but still a separately priced option.
Press your dealer on this - they are standard with the mats. Somebody - either port or dealer prep screwed up. And really, it's a safety matter. The hooks keep the mat in place so it doesn't ride up to catch the pedals. If the dealer gives you a hard time - press that button.
so, how do you get the carpet mats out with the hooks? I have a propensity to break plastic things like this. I tried rolling the carpet back off the hooks, but nothing happening.
It's pretty snug fitting, but what I do is put one hand under the mat and lift it at an angle toward the curve of each hook while pushing the tip of the hook inward.
Well, now I'm totally confused as to what they (dealer or port) did. I was curious and checked the mats again. If I match the holes in the mats to the gromlet holes in the floor carpet, the mat doesn't fit. It brings the front of the mat that should be up under the gas pedal down almost to the flat part of the floor. The back of the mat ends up being about 3 inches to long at the rear. The mats are black and have the Prius name on the side but they are certainly not to this Gen 3 Prius. They look like they are for a smaller (driver's) floor area. Gen 2 maybe?
The hooks are offset by at least an inch from the hole in the floor. Kinda like this hook /______________ connect to floor / Michael
Mine were not on when I got my Prius (pre CFC) and the dealer pulled 2 sets off of another car for me. I thought they were needed for both front and not just the drivers side so I scored a spare set.
Me too- no hooks and the mat slides all over the place. I have started a list and will take all these "little" things to the dealer. They can have the car for the day, I'll shop and everyone's happy.
