There are a couple of threads for the Gen II where people discuss what they have fit inside their Prius so I thought I'd start one for the Gen III since it has more cargo room. Yesterday I was able to fit a twin mattress inside my Gen III, with the hatch closed. I had to choose between moving the front seats way forward and having the mattress flat or being more comfortable and losing my rear view with the mattress tilted up against the headrests but it still fit. (It would have been really nice to be able to display the backup camera while I was driving.)
I managed to fit an entire Bowflex Tread Climber TC5300 (the long base one) along with an extra handel set with the electronics in it.
Was finishing off some work at our farm today and I wanted to bring my tools home. Let me see.... A tornado hit our city in August (very rare for southern Ontario). My union decided to help the victims by providing backpacks to the kids that were affected. I fit about 60 of them into my Prius and delivered them to the Red Cross.
Four growing boys, on bag full of stinky football gear, two packs full of "over-nigher supplies", two bags of groceries, and one bag of gaming equipment. Doesn't seem like much but the stinky football gear made us all feel much closer together than we were. I let go of my mpg goals and drove fast, with pwr mode and we had the windows down! I was sad to see the new-car-smell go.
I play bass and keys in a bar cover band... I was really concerned that my rig wouldn't fit in the Prius (traded my 2000 Explorer for it). I loaded her up and there's TONS of room to spare! I didn't even have to put anything in the passenger seat! (I was mostly concerned about the 2 big speaker cabs, but they JUST fit!)
I fit my 9'6" surfboard. I fold the back seat, remove the headrest from the passenger seat, scoot all the way forward and recline all the way back. The board fits nicely with room to spare.
An orange H-PVelotechnik Scorpion recumbent trike. If it hadn't fit, I wouldn't have bought the car, but it did, and I'm a happy rider. Beats having a $5k orange 'bumper' protecting a $5k Jaguar bumper hands down - and I'm getting 60+ mpg as well!
I fit two bikes in the hatch with the front wheels removed. I've since added a Curt hitch and a Thule T2 bike rack, so the bikes will never again be in the hatch. Kris
4 rubbermaid buckets which I think were about 25 gallons and a party size Ice bucket which was probably about 10+ Gallons. Still had plenty of room on top of the buckets if needed.
I loaded the following model train equipment into my 2010 Prius: (2) 20 car boxes (4) 5 car boxes (6) 3 car boxes Lionel Scrambler Ride Lionel Ferris Wheel Ride Lionel Carousel Lionel Pirate Ship Ride Lionel Swing Ride Lionel Duck Shooting Gallery Lionel Test O'Strength Roller Coaster (4' x 1') Box of miscellaneous items Overnight bag Camera case Laptop computer case Tripod This is in preparation for the Temple Model Train Show (next weekend) where my model railroad club is setting up our layout. These items include the carnival rides I will set up for the layout and my trains. These items fit better in my 2004 Prius. The interior of the passenger compartment is wider in the 2010 Prius (since the roller coaster fits better side to side). However, there is much less room between the back seat and the front seat (even though I moved the front seat slightly forward of my normal driving position). In the 2004 Prius, I was able to fit the Pirate Ship Ride in the middle between the seats. It doesn't fit in the 2010 Prius because the console sticks out too far (so it is now in the back). In the 2004 Prius I had the Swing Ride attached with a bungee cord to the back of the driver's head rest. It is now in the back also. It was a lot easier to load this stuff into my 2004 Prius. However, now that I have an idea of how to fit this stuff, I should be able to load the car in a reasonable amount of time. I attached some pictures to show this stuff loaded in the car. The last picture shows my view out the back window. The equipment blocks the bottom window (just like on my 2004 Prius), but I can see out the top window in the hatch. I will find out on Friday how well I can see on the road. :car:
Fit in 17 Boxes of laminate Flooring, Lots of room to spare (only 1/2 full) but didn't want to overload anything. Could of done more, since it didn't even phase the car at all, even traveling on the highway 115/kph, Got about 4.6 l/100km or 56MPG still
We hauled an ironing board and a drippy steam iron along with a bowl of fruit compote w/ very jucy blue berry sauce that spilled all over the back deck . . . all of this spilling on to my all weather floor mats. :bounce: Absolutely no problem cleaning this up, reported my wife!
