Can someone explain to me which options are port installed and how the process works ? I would like a car with the remote starter but I read a post here that it is a port installed option and if the dealer does it costs a lot more. Is this true?
I've noticed the following: Rear bumper applique Bluetooth (on the Package II's that I've been looking at) V.I.P. RS 3200 Plus Security System Floor Mats Cargo Mat
Yeah, Jabber said that the accessories were cheaper if ordered with the car and put on at port and not thru a dealer. I'm guessing here but perhaps all these accessories are available through port? Maybe a salesperson who reads this thread could confirm for us.
Does anybody have pricing (dealer installed or port installed) for these accessories? Esp. the lower door chrome trim? I think that would look great on my Blizzard Pearl! Thanks!
Paradox is correct. Anything called an "accessory" can be installed at either the port or dealer. And yes, it is (generally) cheaper to have it installed at port than at the dealer due to differences in labor rates. I say generally because all dealers have a different labor rate in their service department. So, most items that have to be installed will be cheaper. Parts like mats, the cargo tote, the first aid kit, etc are the same price whether on the window or at your dealer. something like the paint protection film I would ONLY have done at the port due to the difficulty in installation.
Thanks, I didn't see the pricing on the first accessories But I am most interested in the lower rocker panel trim, and that didn't have a price that I could see. Maybe time for me to get new glasses?
After reading several posts I have some concern about how to ensure that the options I ordered are installed at the port versus at the dealer. I am referring to things like the alarm, window tint and bumper protector. Also, the illuminated door sills, are they done at the port or the factory? I saw someone had posted photos of something called "door sill enhancements" but they weren't illuminated. When speaking to my dealer during the purchase (same region) he also referred to the illuminated door sills as "door sill enhancements." I spoke to him today and he assured me that they were illuminated. Are dealers allowed to install substitutions? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide! Tom
Door sill enhancements and illuminated door sills are both done here in the US, they do not come from Japan with them. It has been said that if the dealer installs accessories they cost more than if they are done at the port. So if your dealer is charging more than the prices seen below either they are jacking up the price or they were installed at the dealer where labor costs are more than at the port.
