After having been given eta's of 9/11, 9/9 and 9/8, I decided to call the dealer on the afternoon of the 8th just in case my car was in. When I called around noon, he told me no word yet but then about an hour later, a friend and I were coming back from lunch and just *happened* to pass by the dealership just in time to see a blue 2010 Package III Prius pull out and drive away! HEY.... FOLLOW THAT CAR! Of course my very calm rational friend refused. She did however, agree to stop at the dealership so that I could ask if that was indeed MY car. Sure enough, it was! Mr. dealer-man looked surprised but resigned to see me and agreed that it would be ready for me to pick up after work. I was very happy. :cheer2: I reluctantly went back to work, the whole time fighting visions of some mechanic guy whooping it up in my car. My friend thought it amusing how worked up I was over the whole thing. I tried to tell her how cool it is to buy a car with under 10 miles on it, but she didn't really get it. I pretty much spent the rest of the afternoon pacing. I did it creatively so even though some people now think I have "bathroom" issues, no one really caught on that I was just to excited to sit still and work. After work I went back, and an hour later drove away in my new car! To sum up: .The dealer DID match the 4.75 financing for 72m I had found through PEN FED, bringing my payment down just a tad. . My car had 11 miles on it when I got it. .They used the customization sheet I got here ( Thanks SCJoe) and fully customized my settings before I got it, all but the seatbelt buzzer, they refused to change that for safety reasons. . It did not come with the 9.1 Nav DVD, and he told me I was on my own on that one and would have to pay for the upgrade. . My car has a birthmark. I don't know how else to describe it, but its a mark that looks like an air bubble would look. It can only be seen in certain light and the dealer saw it to. He promised to fix it. We will see. . I'm starting to "get" hypermiling and am having so much fun "Prius geeking" as my son so eloquently puts it. I have no idea what the evil mechanic guy did to my car when he had it but my mpg was 44 something. Pfft. I have it up to 47.2 and climbing now.... As soon as I have time ( very busy this week) I plan to take more pictures, this is just one from my camera phone.
Congratulations! It's been fun following your trials and tribulations leading up to finally getting your car delivered. Cheers!
Congratulations on your new Prius Octavia. Looking very sharp! Enjoy your new ride and stay safe. Hope to see you in our September 27th meet.
Looks awesome!!!! Glad everything worked out for you!!!! Good to hear they matched the financing for you! I thought they would do that to you on the NAV 9.1 DVD. Keep us posted on your birthmark, take a picture of if when you can. Best of luck Don
Congatulations! Bummer about the DVD - for the cost of NAV; should come with a free upgrade every two years for life! Maybe we will pass on I5 sometime : )
You are required to have front license plate in Oregon right? When we picked up my Wife's CTS-V the Moron dealer had installed the front license plate just so they could put their plate up there. I would have refused delivery since I had told them to not install it, but it was her car, she was excited and I didn't want to ruin it for her. CTS-V's were and maybe are still pretty rare animals And yes t.he Blue is very attractive. I wish I could have waited for the car I wanted, but I did the C4C thing and had to take what I could find, or so I thought
I wanted to. I don't think I will have my passport in time. I guess I didn't realize it was that big a deal but I'm being told that without one, I' might very well get turned away at the border.
CONGRATULATIONS! Enjoy! Portland HSD Group meets on September 19 location to be announced. The Portland Area HSD Meetup Group (Portland, OR) - Meetup.com
Octavia's licence is enhanced, it has her photo on it! Ha ha a new car, congrats Octavia and I know just how you felt while waiting for your new car to be delivered. In hell sinners are made to feel like that for an eternity I'm sure.
Hi Octavia-- I've been following your Prius Quest. Congratulations on your new car!! I've been on a quest myself for a Prius IV with Solar Roof, and developed a touch of OCD recently as a result. Don't feel so unusual asking a friend to "follow that car". In recent days, I've been known to track the ship with my car through New York harbor to the docks in Newark using marinetraffic.com. Since I live fairly close to the port, I've driven past to see the ship, went to the port to see the incoming cars (and was afraid that Homeland Security would think that was suspicious). And finally, I saw a car carrier tractor trailer headed from the port toward my dealer (with a Prius matching mine on it) and followed it, hoping that it was actually my car. (It wasn't.) The great news is that I picked up my new car this afternoon, so my wait is over also. Enjoy your new car!!! I know that I'll enjoy mine.
Congrats Octavia! That is so awesome! I remember well how I felt to get mine! It still hasn't gone away, imagine that! Enjoy your new car. I also had the custom settings sheet sent to dealer ahead of time. I also told them if they drilled holes in my front bumper to advertise for them I would not, I repeat, not take delivery. As a dentist, I don't ask all my patients to walk around in t shirts that say, "This smile a product of Dr. Jon" whenever they are out in public. It just really chaps me that some dealerships have the audacity to ruin my front bumper like this. The local Subaru dealership did this also and it was only through my wifes begging and pleading that I accepted the car without forcing them to replace the bumper (with holes now!) Hello, Drag coeeficient! Its a minor detail, though, really in the grand scheme of things. Now you can put your own really cool license plate saying of your own big and in that spot! Congrats again on the car. I really love the color!
