I just took my first trip after driver seat modification and coundn't believe the difference. I am 6' 6" tall and this change enables me not to have to recline into the back seat, and I can even pull the seat forward and it is still more comfortable than original. You will be able to use those armrests again while steering and look out of the center of the windshield. my wife 5'2" and I can both sit with our heads at the same heght without me reclining and stretching to reach back to the steering wheel. My wife can also adjust the seat back to a comfortable location for her. Let me know if interested and I will post more specifics with pics.

Not to be nasty, but... why open up a new Thread as this WITHOUT posting more information? - ie your solution. your findings.

Sounds like an infomercial - 'But wait! There's more...'
Did you expect responders to say, No keep it to yourself.
Space and attention span can be limited in a Forum as PC.
We should all try to be concise, crisp, and considerate.

And there seems to be so many new posts opened that are so similar to previous posts. Multiple Threads on similar topic subjects tend to clutter the Forum and make navigation difficult.

I hope you take this as constructive criticism.

    I'm 6' 8" and definitely interested.

I've been fine for all the trips we've taken so far in it -- mostly local-ish trips of 1.5 hours or less. But, we're looking at a 8 hour trip in a few weeks. (I suspect you're alluding to a way to move the seat back even further, but probably wouldn't be able to use it on the long trip since someone will be sitting behind me in the already cramped space.)

    Thanks.

FYI this post is not intended as an offer to sell anything. I am just interested in sharing pictures of or information about a modification that I figured out how to do to my own car because I am excited about how well it worked out. The modification does not involve any commercial products, I made it out of scrap metal and welded it together myself. I have no intention of charging any money to anyone for the information. Apparently something I said rubbed the forum moderaters the wrong way because they thought I was trying to sell something behind their backs. PS, it's not an infomercial either .

The idea is to lower the back of the seat by 2". I was able to do this by cutting off the back attachment brackets and welding on new plate steel brackets that are 2" shorter. The plate steel that I used was about 3/16" thick. Of course this does involve permanent changes to the seat brackets and the original plastic covers for the brackets cannot be used anymore. It probably isn't necessary to lower the seat the full 2", but to do it I had to cut off some of the plastic bottom skirt on the right rear side of the seat. I am new to this and haven't been allowed to post photos here yet. I will post them on my profile page sometime soon. My wife has to help me, I am not very good with this stuff, and she is too busy at the moment.

I was also able to have a 5'2" passenger ride comfortably behind my seat after making this modification. I no longer have to put the seat all the way back to get more knee room because the tilted seat supports my knees up higher and I don't have to recline the seat as much to keep my head off the ceiling.
