I test drove a 2010 with Nav and we paired the bluetooth to try it as well. We put in a Nav destination and were following it when a call came in. We answered it, and the Nav screen went from giving wonderful directions to saying somethingn like "Phone in use" (or that general idea). Is there a way to force the Nav to continue giving directions while bluetoothing?? It was very annoying to lose the Nav mid course. I wonder if they consider it a safety issue of keeping the driver too busy with multiple tasks. :juggle: Personally, I find that losing my Nav mid-course would add stress.
Excellent question. While I don't get too many calls while using the NAV guidance, it has happened at least once. Next time, I'll push the Map/Voice button and see what happens.
Your choice to answer or not--punching the on hook button refuses the call so you can continue your guidance.
Yes, I have the choice to not answer the call. The point of my posting is that I don't like the fact that I'm in that situation. I want *both*, and why not? Is it a safety issue? I understand that the Nav voice would have to be muted so that it doesn't interfere with the call but why kill the screen? I like seeing that I have a quarter mile til the left hand turn at Main street. The fact that my son called and I had to take the call shouldn't penalize me by cutting off my navigation...if I miss the turn I'm going to be a lot more stressed and that compromises safety IMHO.
Switch from BT to talking on the phone (via speakerphone if necessary) if you still require NAV directions. You can hit Maps to return to NAV screen even when BT is in use.
If it's like other Toyota/Lexus NAV's, you can't "transfer" unless stopped. Safety, apparently, to stop you from using the handset while driving. The second point is a solution--press Map button.
On mine, when a call comes in, it does go to the phone screen but if a turn is coming up on the Nav., the chime will sound and the voice will tell you to turn and you can't turn it down unless you go to the settings screen. People complain on the phone that they hear voices in the background. If the radio is on, the call comes in but the radio still will play which I do not like.
If you get a call and the radio is playing, hold down the MODE button on the steering controls to shut the radio off quick... Don't have to take your hands off the road or wheel....
I wasn't aware of this as an issue. I don't recall it happening to me, so please forgive me if I am wrong, but I believe you can get your Nav back simply by pressing the Map button. You can have the Nav working just fine when listening to music or podcasts via the BT connection, so I don't think the phone connection offers any additional problem or issue. I'll need to check this out to be certain, but I believe you need only press that Map button to get the Nav screen (and voice direcitons) all while still on your call.
On mine, if I'm listening to the radio, my iPod, or a CD and a call comes in, as long as the phone bluetooth connection is on, the audio goes silent, and all I hear is the phone ringing. I answer it on the steering wheel, and the music stays silent until I hang up the phone. This all makes sense, so if yours isn't doing that you probably would want to check on it.
