My overall MPG resets automatically about 25% of the time after I leave the gas station..kind of strange. Why does this happen and how do I stop it from happening in the future?
Ditto. Good question. Seems to be about 25% of the fillups...maybe a little data collection is in order. If I remember
The mpg indicator on 2004-2005 model year Prius should reset each time you refill, just by design. If it doesn't reset all the time, maybe you are buying 4 gallons of gas or less, and the system doesn't recognize that fuel has been added. On later model year Prius, the mpg indicator does not reset until you press the reset "button" on the MFD screen.
I like being able to use the reset myself. I am currently trying to evaluate effects of different gas on the mpgs. This month will be standard Shell, next month Chevron....
My 09 only resets the trip meter, the MPG on the consumption screen stays. I kinda like that. I can see how far I've gone on a tank, and can estimate my DT-I-Need-To-Get-Gas. It has never automatically reset the economy... just the trip odometer.
My '07 resets the miles on the screen when I fill up, but the mpg does not reset automatically. Does it every time, only when it is filled to all bars showing, if not completely filled, it doesn't reset
Due to the bladder, it CAN reset as little as 2 gallons, turning on how much is in it when you add gas. . . . then simply hit 'reset' .
Pearl has -never- reset anything when filled with fuel. I've always reset the trip meter -and- the MFD manually when filling up. Sometimes when I "top up" (start of a long trip usually) adding less than 1/4 tank the fuel gauge doesn't change. It starts to read correctly once the fuel gets down to where it was when I topped up. But that's computers. "We're not doing anything unless it's my way" says the computer!
