Anyone have a Prius V (Or has seen one)?

We got our V with ATP on August 21 after waiting 8 weeks. Paid MSRP. It replaced my wife's 1995 Mazda Protege. It is our first hybrid and my wife does not consider herself technically savvy, but she loves the Dynamic Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist (i.e. she uses them whenever she is driving faster than 45 mph). She also loves the bluetooth phone using voice commands. Have not gotten the hang of the parking assist yet.

 

I got my Prius V w/ATP on July 11th. I picked this model specifically because of the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and have not been disappointed.

I love the way the DRCC operates. When I am driving on one of our local roads with a 60 or 65 MPH speed limit, I can start accelerating, then activate the DRCC. I then increase the set speed to the speed limit and the DRCC automatically accelerates to either the set speed or the speed of the traffic. After stopping at a traffic light, I accelerate to around 30 MPH then resume the DRCC. It takes care of getting up to the proper speed. It also handles traffic slowing down and speeding up. It usually handles cars cutting in right in front of me. Occasionally, it starts frantically beeping and flashing when a car cuts in too close but, so far, it has handled even those situations without my having to brake manually.

The Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) works, but I am not sure how useful it is.

The Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA) seems to be a cute toy, but I don't really have any use for it, other than impressing people by showing them how the car can (almost) park itself. The only time I might parallel park is if I went into downtown Austin, but, even there, I normally park in a parking lot.

I don't ever want to see the Pre-Collision System in operation!

 

The Dynamic Cruise Control is very much worth the price if you do any highway driving.

 

I think you're asking the choir NOT to sing on this one! I can't imagine ANY Prius V owner (and especially those with AT) NOT loving their car!

Most of us have extensively researched our purchase and have specifically zeroed in on the V because of various features we found attractive, necessary or desirable.

Most, if not all, have taken into consideration the increase in monitary outlay, and chosen to bear the additional expense because of the benefits we recover.

In short, WE ALL LOVE OUR V's!!!

well said I completely agree. I personally wouldn't have considerred the prius without the features the V with ATP offers.

 

California is the same way. Better get used to it. The only way to get one without AT here is to go through a dealer like Dianne Whitmire who's willing to trap one en route to other states for you as no California dealer is able to preference one.

 

Actually, its about $2700 extra (over and above the baseline NAV system) to have the car park itself. But, in reality, the self-parking feature is, for most people, a gimmick. High in "wow" factor but not so high in utility factor. Since it can only park if it can swing your car into a space in one backup, it's not helpful for those of us who can rock back and forth to squeeze into a tight spot.

That having been said, the DRCC alone is worth the price of admission. It totally redefines "cruise control" and makes a long trip relaxing. I drive about 20 miles up and down I-66 on my way to and from work and do not have to touch my brake or accellerator unless traffic slows down to below 25 mph, all the time remaining safely in trail behind the vehicle ahead of me. The Lane Keeper Assist is very subtle but it helps steer thru the curves on the road by keeping the "zero-pressure" point appropriately centered on your curving (or straight) track down the highway.

I was impressed by the DRCC when I first test-drove the car but it wasn't until I actually used it on a busy highway that I could appreciate how revolutionary it is.

I brought a 2010 Prius V w/AT package in May. Paid MSRP for it, 33,148.00. It is a great car, no problems with it so far. The best car that I have ever owned. I drive it every day with the A/C and the radio on all the time. Getting 52.1 mpg on each tank fill up. Love the car. I wash the Prius once a week using "NO Rinse" brand car wash from AutoGeek (spelling?) online. I wouldn't trade my Prius for any other car on the market today. The 2010 Prius V is a great running car. And it is so fast.
