I've been looking at buying a Gen III but recently I noticed that Blizzard Pearl is no longer showing up on the Toyota website. Also, nobody in my area has one in stock in my area. Does anybody have explanation for this? I'm in the NorthEast.
I looked at the website more carefully after reading your post. I found it now. I just couldn't see it because the color is very close to the background color. It is also categorized as a premium color, which I haven't noticed before. Doh! Thank you!
That is really interesting. When I was looking for my Prius II, Blizzard Perl was the one color I could not find on the lots. Especially with the Dark Gray interior. I guess the extra $230 is a big turn off for most buyers.
If Blizzard Pearl isn't available it isn't because people are turned off by its premium price! At 24%, it's the #1 color on the following poll: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...m/63423-poll-what-2010-prius-do-you-have.html
I just took delivery of my 2010 Prius IV Blizzard Pearl/Dark Gray interior on August 27th. I placed my request/order with dealer along with deposit on July 15th. My estimated 8-10 week wait turned into a 6 week wait. So, they're out there, in the Northeast. It's definitely a great color combination! Best of luck! Cost of premium color was an extra $220.00. To me, it was well worth it. ...All good things come to those who wait.
I find it hard to believe that $220 is a problem (esp. when carpet mats and cargo mats are also $200 ish). Find me another car company that charges the same for a premium paint. You'll be surprised.
No problem for me! It was so worth it, and I probably would have paid more for it. My blizzard pearl with bisque interior is gorgeous. I really love it.
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what makes the paint "premium"? Is it because of the pearl effect, or is it actually a higher-quality paint? BTW, I relate to the OP. The first couple of times I went to the website I couldn't find the color either. It took me a while to realize it was down below the other colors!
It costs more because pearl paints are multiple coats of different colored paints. $220 is less than many companies charge for a pearl paint finish. IMO it is well worth it, the Blizzard Pearl is spectacular. I said a long time ago, after they launched the new site actually, that the little thing which shows the blizzard pearl paint needs a black border or something around it to make it stand out and show it is there. It blends in too easily and looks like nothing is there.
I was rather lucky. The sales guy I was dealing with just called me up on 8/7 lunch time and told me he may have a Blizzard Pearl/Dark Gray Prius II ready tonight just off the truck. I gave him my credit card number instantly and drove home with a C4C trade by 11pm. But yes $220 is very much worth it. I love this white.
I have Blizzard Pearl with Bisque interior. The metallic fleck look is really cool as the sun sets. I'm in the Northeast and during the "Cash for Clunker" period it was the only color I could get.
Took delivery last week of a IV Blizzard Pearl Mist Gray with Sunroof package after waiting 8 weeks. Ended up finding it myself from a different dealer than I ordered from. The color is well worth the $200 premium IMHO. I am in Metrowest part of Boston suburbs. JTMav
Live in Northeast Ohio, and bought mine off the lot. However, when I was doing my hourly inventory checks I found that several of the dealers around here and Western PA, had boatloads of silver in stock, and a fair amount of pearl's were shipping with imminent arrival dates.
