Has anyone installed the USB interface kit on their 2010 Prius yet? How is it working? Is it a difficult installation? The labor charge? If an audio store does this, as opposed to a Toyota dealer, do we void the warranty? Has anyone received a 2010 Prius that now has this feature factory installed? Impressions? Thanks for your help. The correct part number for the kit is PT233-47100
Buy it from PriusChat Shop and do it yourself. It requires a screw driver and a ratchet. Very simple! What I don't like.. I installed the USB iPod connection for the navigation package and even if I turn the car off while it is playing music from the iPod every time you turn the car back on it either goes to FM, SAT or CD. It will not stay on USB When viewing the map and listening to the iPod..at song change a black bar drops down over the map saying USB iPod, Track #xxx but doesn’t say the song name, artist or anything else. What’s the point? Tell me stuff!
If anyone has undertaken this installation it would be great if you could document - with pictures - how you did it. I am sure that a ton of people here would love to do the same thing. Thanks in advance.
cpatch had it installed and posted a nice demo vid--try a search if you're interested. Based on the vid, I decided to pass.
I saw the video of how it works I was thinking video/pictures of how it was installed if anyone did it themselves.
I am not mechanically inclined. How much is the dealer charging to have the usb interface kit installed? I my independent mechanic said I should have the dealer install it because then it would be covered under the warranty. Can I buy the unit online and take it to the dealer to install?
I'm using a flash drive since the kit won't work with my iphone and with the flash drive the audio system stays on USB when power on/off.
Mt View, you say you are using a flash drive. Does that mean you have the ipod/USB interface kit already installed? If not, would you please explain how you use a flash drive w/o the kit?
Yes, I installed the USB interface kit a couple of weeks ago but it isn't working correctly with my iPhone 3G, keeps disconnecting. Works well with the flash drive.
I had the dealer install it a few weeks ago. I've been using it with my iPod Nano (I forget which version - the first ones to go color about 3 or so years ago). The very first time I shut the car off with the Nano plugged in and feeding the stereo, the Nano locked up and the USB disappeared from the set of tabs on the audio system. Took the Nano inside and connect it to the Mac and it came alive. Ever since then, I have a 50/50 chance that the iPod will resume when I turn the car/audio on. Sometimes the USB tab indicates that something is plugged in, other times it does not and I have to unplug the cable from the USB port and plug it back in. I do not know if this is specific to this model Nano or not. Seems like either a protocol or timing issue though. While I can always get the iPod to work and it sounds great in the car, this thing should just work (especially after laying out an extra $400 for the unit and installation). Very interested in hearing how others have fared with their Nano's.
My Nano shuts off every time I shut the car off. I just unplug it and plug it back in every time I get back in the car
