After weeks of searching for an allocation and finding the color and model that I wanted, it all comes down to the next 2 hours and 20 minutes. My Pearl Package III arrived late Saturday. I stripped our 1997 Ford Explorer yesterday and put on salvaged tires before making the hour and a half drive this morning to the Toyota dealer. I arrived when they opened at 9am and we jumped right into the paperwork and I was out of the business office by 10:30. But for the last 6 hours, we've been waiting for my CARS app to go through, but the government's servers keep crashing. And for the last hour and a half, it hasn't come up at all. The car I dreamed of is on the other side of the window from where I sit, but there is only 2 hours and some change left... Keeping my fingers crossed, Bryan
Great vibes coming at you! I was the first CFC that went through my dealership - now 1 of 5 that they've been paid for! May you be as fortunate.
Thanks for the positive thoughts! I just got off the phone with the CARS hotline and since I've already paid for the Prius (I paid for it -- no loan) they are supposed to let me leave with the car. The only thing the CARS hotline will let me do is file a complaint. I spoke to the dealership and they said it doesn't matter what the CARS program says, they aren't lettIng me leave with the Prius until my application is accepted. The funny thing is I've paid and I have a document that shows transfer of ownership to me, but I don't want to press my luck...yet. I'll give it another hour. Bryan
Well, the time to enter the paperwork into the CARS server has been extended. I hope you can get this submitted today. Obama administration extends car dealers' cash for clunkers deadline - The Oval: Tracking the Obama presidency I'll tell you this clunkers thing has been a mess from the get go. Michael
We're rooting for you. CFC has been absolutely great for the economy, for workers, for the environment and for people who are in the market for cars. Unfortunately, I don't have a clunker (one year too new and the mileage too good), so I don't qualify. That's OK--I'm still waiting for my sunroof to come in. Hopefully soon. Let us know when you drive off the lot with that wonderful new car! I can't wait until mine arrives.
Update: I just got home after an exhausting 15 hour day. Bottom line: the dealership will not let my car leave the lot until my application is fully input into the computer system. The General Manager said he was personally going to stay all night until the system came back up again. They also gave me a brand new 2010 Camry to use in the meantime (I live 75 miles away). I am really disappointed that I don't have my Prius yet, but I also understand that the dealership has interests they need to protect. They also didn't have to give me a new car to use in the interim, so they are trying to go out of their way to take care of me. I'm just hoping that this is resolved by noon tomorrow, or the government extends the deadline again (due to their servers crashing). As for now, I'm plain worn out and need to get some sleep. Bryan
Well, folks...a brand new Pakage III in Blizzard Pearl is sitting in my garage! arty: The dealership called this morning and said they were able to get the application through at 5am (that was really cool of them to make this kind of commitment) and they even offered to drive the 75 miles and deliver my new car to me. It was really nice of them to offer that, but I politely declined so I could ensure that I started the break-in period the way I would like it done. After having taken all day off from work yesterday, I couldn't really take any more time away, so I waited until the end of the day to drive up there in the 2010 Camry they loaned me. It was a tough wait! And so ends the story. Or perhaps it really just begins... Thanks everyone for the support -- I'm glad to now be a part of the 2010 family! Bryan
