I bought my new prius (finally) last Thursday night and I have a clicking noise - sounds like it is from the wheels, it goes faster/slower with speed. I only hear it when I'm in the parking garage - no radio, motor, road noise but a definite, click, click, click.

Any ideas? I'll see if i can get it into my dealer 90 miles away tomorrow but it is a bit concerning. I don't see anthing under the car stuck etc.

You may have already been to your dealer and have an answer but the first thought that I had was that you may have a small rock stuck in your tire tread that is causing the clicking. If so, that is an easy fix.

Sounds like a nail in your tire.

Playing cards clipped to hit the spokes! Seriously, the rock thing is right. I had that one happen.

Hey - I must'a missed it - but congrats on getting your car!! I know it was a nail-biting experience. No ideas for your noise (except that I thought of the playing cards on the wheel spokes too :) ) but I'm sure it'll get fixed. Happy driving!!

Thanks, and yes it sounds exactly like playing cards in the spokes. I'll look at the tires to see if I can see any rocks before I make the trip.

Yeah I'll wager it's a large pebble that got stuck in the treads somewhere.

    Yes, rock or nail......
    I've had that happen, also.
