Prius drivers, what music are you listening to? I've noticed that us Prius owners seem to have some rather diverse tastes in music... among other things! I'm curious, what CDs are playing in your car? Between XM and the Ipod I don't listen to or buy CDs that much but here are the 6 in there at the moment. 1 - Led Zeppelin, Early Days 2 - Tool, Lateralus 3 - Dave Matthews Band, Before These Crowded Streets 4 - Metallica, Death Magnetic 5 - Pearl Jam, Ten (excited to see them live next month!) 6 - Dr. Dre, The Chronic 2001
Most everything's on the iPod, but I tend to burn a few CDs for the car now and then, with an eclectic mix spanning about 40 years. My kids really like my taste in music, and my wife doesn't, so I must be doing something right. There's REM, Eminem, Moby, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, David Bowie, Dire Straits, even a bit of Cat Stevens and Blondie. About the only genre I can't stand is country. And 'classical' to me means Beatles and Rolling Stones.
Great question--- #1--SO--Peter Gabriel #2--Balinaka Show---The Leningrad Cowboys #3--Pet Sounds---The Beach Boys #4--Soprano's Soundtrack #5--Bourne Supremacy Soundtrack #6--Wild Cherry--for one track--"Play that funky music White Boy" Regards Froley
Hyo, your music tastes definitely are eclectic. From Eminem to Cat Stevens, quite a jump! I also share your hatred for country music, it makes my ears bleed. Froley, I've never heard of Balinaka Show, it didn't even show up on a Google search. Nice mix of music you have there though, play that funky music white boy. I'm actually surprised more people here don't like classical music, hmm.
I drive on the average about 150 miles a week. In that 150 miles I usually get through all six CDs, which explains the horrible gas mileage I get. I like to put in the Theme of the Week. This week's theme is Greatest Hits Collection part one: 1. Adam Ant - Antics in the Forbidden Zone 2. Chuck Berry - Classic 3. The Bobs - 20 Songs 20 Years 4. Jimmy Buffett - Songs You Know By Heart 5. Kate Bush - The Whole Story 6. The Buzzcocks - Finest
I'm currently loading an MP3 player now and I have Lenny Kravitz, Bob Marley, Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones and so many more. I do like a "little" classical but like others here I cannot deal with country.....blues, southern rock but no country! Makes me want to puke.
Yeah, love the Allman Brothers. Strangely although I don't like country, I really do like Johnny Cash. Maybe he transcends the genre? Stev0, love your old school mix!
Hi Moner try this link to the Leningrad Cowboys---good music with a sense of humor you've never heard Sweet Home Alabama until you've heard it done by a Finnish Rock band and the Soviet Red Army choir...[ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leningrad_Cowboys]Leningrad Cowboys - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] regards Froley
Since I have the "Navi" I can only have 4 CDs ! Here's the selection of the day (In fact those CDs are in the CD player since a couple of weeks ! 1- Jean-Michel Jarre "Oxygene" (It fit perfectly with the Prius !) 2- Charles Aznavour "Ses plus grands succès" (Old classic !) 3- Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto "Jazz 'round midnight" (I'd love to meet the girl from Ipanema !) 4- Keith Jarrett "The Koln Concert" (Do I need to say more ?)
Awesome, there's some way out there artists showing up here. I'm very glad no one has said Nickelback yet. The Leningrad Cowboys look delightfully tongue in cheek, I'll have to try to find some of their stuff online. Richard P, I imagine driving around in the Prius listening to Oxygene must be quite the trip, space car with spacey music! That's some smooth jazz you have going on.
Scattered in the console, glove box & other hiding places -- If I can find 60% of these in the car at one time, I'm in good shape. :music: The Byrds Gram Parsons Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass Arthur Fiedler & the Boston Pops Flute Music of the Andes Asleep at the Wheel Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys Eric Clapton Janis Joplin Seargent Pepper Bolero Peter & the Wolf Arik Einstein Sarah Osnat-Halevy Jimmy Buffett set of "I Heard it on NPR" Christopher Shaw Fleet Foxes Frog & Toad Calls of New Jersey
Just have two in the unit. Alizée Psychedelices Alizée En Concert The rest of the CD's are in case on the front seat. Motley Crue Poison Van Halen Motown, Supremes, Four Tops, Temptations and a few others. Beach Boys Beatles Aerosmith Ramones
Like many others, most of my tunes are on my ipod which is connected to my radio. However in my changer I've been listening to old time radio programs, especially on long business trips. Right now I'm listening to Henry Aldrich, Information Please and various detective shows. They really help pass the time on long trips.
In the Prius... I only have three CDs... I mixed the first two of em... Pink Floyd... from several albums Eagles... from several albums Puddle of Mudd
Metallica (Death Magnetic whole album and bunches of other mp3's from other albums) mp3 assortment of albums - Paramore, Pink, Black Eyed Peas, All American Rejects, Greenday, No Doubt (mp3's again from Trapped in a Box through now) 90's alternative mp3's (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tori Amos etc)
Mad Men, awesome show, season 3 episode 2 airs tonight. I had the Six Feet Under soundtrack playing in my car last week. Haven't seen Deadwood, but I hear it's good. Nice taste in music there Paradox, I don't think I'd mind being a passenger in your car. Death Magnetic was such a pleasant surprise, Metallica back with a vengeance. Saw them play it live last year with Lamb of God, one of my best concerts ever. So we've got a little Hair Metal, some Fleet Foxes, some old classics... Not much love for Folk according to the poll, maybe Toyota should think of putting different music in their Prius commercials.
Thnx Moner. Deadwood was a great show, it was just a shame how it ended without imo really ending. The producer or director or someone on it left to do another show which flopped. Death Magnetic was a pleasant suprise, your not kidding. Unlike some if not many I didn't mind St Anger. It was tolerable and imo better than load and reload were... That must have been one kick nice person concert. On a whole different genere, I just saw No Doubt with Paramore a month ago and it was great seeing Gwen live
Paolo Nutini "These Streets" Nat King Cole Greatest Hits. Flaming Lips A Compilation of Patriotic Songs by Paralyzed Veterans of America Bruce Springsteen's "Magic" I share your feelings about Country Music and I live in Nashville so it's hard to avoid.
Time to change the CDs (I went through all of the six I had there). Still going with Greatest Hits theme: 1. Captain Beefheart - At His Best 2. Clannad - PastPresent 3. Petula Clark - Greatest Hits 4. Joao Gilberto - The Legendary Joao Gilberto 5. Grandmaster Flash - The Best of Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel, & the Furious Five 6. Billie Holiday - 16 Most Requested Songs Usually it's a bit more eclectic, but I like it.
