I am on my second tank of gas. The first tank was free from the dealer, and I noticed that I drove about 120 miles before the first pip light went out. when I used just over half a tank. I put in just over 5 gallons and let the pump click twice, filling slowly. I just drove about 70 miles and already the first pip light went out. same type of driving exactly. Average is about 47-48 MPG. Does this mean that I really didn't fill up like the dealer did the first time? thanks for any thoughts.

Probably. I have gone anywhere between 70 (when I pumped in just over nine gallons) and 150 miles (when I squeezed in close to 11 gallons) before the first bar disappeared. Some posters have reported driving 200 miles or more before it happened.

The bladder is very variable and differs in reaction even to different pump nozzles. I have experienced the same thing. Usually I'll go around 120 miles, then every now and then it'll drop off at something lower. Depends on the temp outside, the temp of the gas, and about 50 other factors. It's more likely a bladder issue than a gauge issue...

    Hope that helps. :)

I figured the such. I usually fillup at a cheveron station near my work, as its a new station of well about 4 years now. It was about 70F. I may try Shell and see what happens next time.
