Has anyone successfully managed to access TIS through Firefox? I keep getting a warning that TIS cannot find the SVG plugin and it won't let me any further. Firefox has native SVG support, so it shouldn't need the plugin. But just for kicks, I disabled the native SVG support, added the Adobe plugin, and tried again. Still the same warning and couldn't get any further. Has anyone made this work? Care to share how? Thanks!
Several years ago when I tried to access TIS the only browser I could get to work was IE. Pain in the butt.
Thanks. That's been my experience too, so far... just hoping someone knows 'the trick', since FF is so much nicer than IE.
I generally boycott sites requiring IE, although sometimes I'm forced to compromise if I really need to use a site and the owners were dumb enough to require IE. I hate that sort of proprietary crapola. Tom
You could try changing your User Agent to IE so that the page will render. YMMV though as far as how much hack code is there for the IE.
Toyota's Technical Information Services site, where you can get access to service manual information, technical service bulletins, etc. https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInf...Oc%3d&TARGET=$SM$https://techinfo.toyota.com/
Last time I was on TIS, I used Safari but changed the user agent to IE. I downloaded all the relevant PDFs I could find for my 2007, but I noticed that they are using SVG files for a lot of newer stuff; what a PITA. Haven't tried it with Firefox.
Rachael, Are you having trouble with the home page loading right or are you having trouble actually accessing the manuals? edit -=-----=- From dogfriends post it looks like its the manuals..
As soon as I log in, before I even access content, it diverts me off to a warning page about the SVG plugin. Even after installing the plugin, I cannot get past that point with FF - no wiring diagrams, service bulletins, nothing. It works fine in IE, so it's just a browser issue. I'll have to try playing with the user agent setting again.
Hi Rachael: Have you by chance tried Safari 4 browser? I have used it on occasion. If it wasn't for circumstances right now I would be using it more than IE8 as I am not overly impressed by this latest version of Microsoft's browser. No harm trying. All the best..... Hi Edward, I have not used Safari yet, although I hear good things about it. I have my Firefox so dialed in, with all the right plugins and settings, it's just not worth it to 'break in' a new browser at this point. I really just wanted to get Firefox to work so that I could work with some of my plugins to try to bulk download the documents. Not trying to pirate anything - I paid for a full month of TIS - just trying to make it easier to save the whole thing for future reference. Thanks for the suggestion! Rachael
