I visited a Toyota showroom and put down $500. for a new 2010 Toyota Prius and I'm still waiting for delivery. The sales person is very responsive when I call, and asures me my Toyota is on the way. This has been going on since July 10, 2009. Is anyone experiencing the same delivey problems?
Most people do have to wait for their car if they aren't buying one that's already on the lot. I waited just about 1 month, but I know some people waited MUCH longer. Ask your sales person for some specific details, like if he has a VIN# yet or if he's even found a specific car for you. If he has indeed located an actual car that fits your requirements, he'll then be able to track its progress as it makes its way to you. (when it hits port, when it gets put on a truck, when it's on the way to your dealership, etc.)
We waited two months for our Prius IV and the dealer was totally worthless until three days before delivery. We called or emailed the sales person to get status updates every week, but the only answer we got was "your car is on order and we will contact you when we have a VIN and an estimated delivery date." Last Wednesday we were given the VIN and told "we think the car will be here in the next week or so." Last Thursday, we were told "we think the car is in the US." And on Friday, we were told "it's here." The lack of communication was very frustrating. But, in spite of all that, we love the car!
I ordered a 2010 IV on june 2 and am still waiting with no clue from the dealer other then I am next on the list. good luck with your wait
Ask him for the vehicle inquiry report--it will include the configuration (model, colors & options), plus vessel name & VIN (when available). If he won't provide it, he's probably BSing.
Ask your dealer/salesperson what the status of your vehicle is, if it's truly been "Allocated" to that dealership it will have an A status (A = Alocated), if the vehicle is in transit to your dealer, it will have an F status (F = Freight) and if a G has been assigned, it's on the "Ground" (sitting on your dealers lot)! If your car has been "Allocated", it will have a VIN that's been designated for it, and they will be able to give that VIN to you, that VIN is YOUR car, you don't truly have a car until they can give you its VIN. You should also ask for a copy of the VIR (Vehicle Information Report) this tells you EXACTLY what is on your vehicle, Exterior color, Interior color (however, both are coded-for example LA10 is the Dark Grey Interior color, you can obtain those codes here on the forum), what Packages (if any) and what options were installed at the port (which are coded as 2Q). Another interesting item on that Report, is the name of the ship that is transporting your car to the states, there are Threads on this forum you can search for that will tell you how to watch the progress of your ship as it's enroute to it's Port. Your dealer has much information he needs to be supplying you, press him for more details, and read ALL you can on this forum, you'll be AMAZED at the insight you'll gain from its contents! I'm experiencing a similar issue, but I'm out in SoCal. I placed a deposit 2 weeks ago on a III that was supposed to come in on the 20th of this month. I phoned the dealer today and he doesn't have confirmation on whether or not it'll be in on thursday or even by this weekend since all their shipments have been delayed. He said he'll give me a call tomorrow and/or Friday if he has any further info. Now I'm getting a little worried and was wondering if anyone else in So Cal is experiencing the same problem. Is this common and how long has your shipment been delayed? I'm trying to take advantage of the Cash 4 Clunkers deal, so these delays have me a bit worried. I'm even considering attempting to track down another Prius at a different dealership (which has been a terrible experience thus far). I guess I should find out for sure in the next few days, but I just need some peace of mind heh. Thanks for the help!
I got mine in two weeks and could have gotten it earlier but wanted a IV with Nav. Cars now moving faster in NYC but still possible to grab one quickly if it's not a special package. Have you tried the dealers in Queens and the Bronx? Bit rough at the edges New York style but they do deliver.
shankyyy- I live in central OH and I ordered from Tansky in Columbus. Put down a deposit on June 2. The say the vehicle is ordered and I am next in line, but no allocation yet. I bought my 07 prius from them too.
Put a deposit on a V w/ATP in gray/gray on May 13. The car cannot be obtained in the Denver region (CO, NM, AZ, NV, WY). Note the low population. Trading with CA dealers only works if they have a V w/ATP to offer. Tomorrow I am picking up my deposit refund check, and am in touch with a highly-regarded representative at a CA dealer. Stay tuned.
Interesting that your Denver dealers told you that about our region - I was shopping to order a V w/AT both in Wyoming and SD - both dealerships told me I'd have to order it and to expect a 10-12 week delivery time. The Wyoming dealer even got in a V in my color choice while I was deciding, but it didn't have the AT package so I passed. Hope my guys are right and I'm not frustrated in a couple of months like you so rightfully are!
wow! i thought Tansky had lot of priuses compared to other dealers, atleast that's what their web page seems to indicate. I am planning to visit them and couple of others. Looks liks I have a long wait ahead. BTW, how was your experience with Tansky - buying, servicing, etc etc. I am still deciding between III and IV. what color combinations and packages did you order?
Well the problem anywhere here in the midwest is the solar roof, I ordered a IV with SR. Tansky has had a lot of Prius on the lot since I ordered, all colors and even package V's. I have been real happy with them and the way they treat you. I was pleased with the whole purchase process when I bought my 07 Prius from them. I looked at Germain and Toyota Direct and was not inspired to buy from either of them. I have yet to see one on their lot (Tansky) with the solar roof, I visit them about every other week and at times they have had up to 14 Prius 2010's on their lot at once. They get a lot of II and III. Good luck I am still waiting I believe due to the SR. They say SR production is only 5%. Devide that between the III and IV and if you want a specific color both interior and out there are not very many opportunities to pick up your exact choice.
You may never see a IV with SR in your local area. The dealers in your region may have pre-emptively decided which current models will be stocked throughout your region. The regional map is in this thread: http://priuschat.com/forums/dealers-pricing/62941-toyota-sales-region-map.html This very thing was done when it was decided there would be no Gen II Touring models in the Central Atlantic Region where I am, and there never were, tough beans... so I went some 400 mi. to RI to get mine. The sales people at the three dealers I dealt with simply would not discus what was going on... but they would try very hard to switch me to any other car on their lot. This may or may not be the case where you are. There's info on the regional ordering process here: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...ide-process-once-order-has-been-submited.html Hope this helps. Definitely hold out for the car you really want, don't hesitate to use the Internet to find it, where ever it is. Good luck.
I left my $500 deposit on June 27th. Once again the dealer is very reassuring that the car is due in any day now. We can't forget that this IS a 2010 model and it's 2009 still. Inventory is not there yet. Hang in. It's the only thing we can do.
thx much. i am not looking for SR, maybe NV - still deciding...glad to hear that tansky is a good place...hopefully, i'll get good service, and a faster delivery...will be knocking on them and probably germain and toyota direct/west soon.. good luc! with your wait and let us know when u get the delivery..
Hi I have (coming in) a Prius V AT that my dealer said would be in by Monday (yesterday), I called them and now Toyota said (to them) they are behind a day on deliveries, but still no call today by my dealer? I have a vin, but no car? (at least yet I hope it comes any day?) Are we all having this problem, Promises by Toyota but (hopefully just) delays? Any one with this ? Is this normal? Thanks
Tansky does not keep their website up to date. When my Prius V with AT arrived after 2 months of waiting, it was one of eight. However, seven of the eight were pre-ordered. Don't expect website to be accurate of what they have in stock.
ProfPrius..thx. will be visiting tansky and others soon. i'm likely in for a III but will decide after a test drive.. -mindmachine/profprius - how is navigation system especiailly in columbus and central OH?-someone else from worthington mentioned that it's not accurate. of course, the forum seems to indicate otherwise as compared to garmin -i'm considering nav because of the iPOD/USB, back-up, and of course it is integrated but still deciding.
