On my Gen II I could adjust the dimmer both when the headlights where on or off, I noticed today in my V AT that the dimmer doesn't do anything when the headlights are off, another thing is that when the headlights are on I can't set the dimmer to full brightness like the brightness of the dashboard when the headlights are off. Anyone else see this or is it something I need to get fixed
When the roller switch hits the end of its travel, push it further until it clicks. Then you should get full headlight-off brightness.
Thanks you're right I didn't roll it up hard enough, but now when it clicks it's fully bright Can you also confirm that when the headlights are off the dimmer doesn't do anything
I find it annoying in the dark when you are trying to set it to night mode, I can't find the damn thing most of the time.
Oddly enough mine was in full brightness and I was trying to adjust the blinding display by turning down the nav. Glad to have found it though. --Mickey
I believe that in my 2004 Prius the dimmer control only worked when the headlights were on, the same as in the 2010 Prius.
The dashboard dimmer is my biggest complaint. If I decide to leave parking lights on as daylight driving lights, I have to turn it up (past the notch) to get full brightness. Then, at night, I have this SUPER BRIGHT dash I have to manually reduce. Light sensors for cars are probably $0.01 cost parts, they really should have added one to have the dash respond to night vs. day for those who use parking or headlights during the day.
