Hey everybody, This is my first post. We did not get our Prius yet (hopefully later this week or next week). I went by the Toyota dealership today and asked the parts dept if they had the rear bumper protector. He said they only have the applique. I live in Hawaii and I am sure shipping would be expensive if I order from the PriusChat Store. (I emailed and they have not gotten back to me...yet) Does anyone have the part number so I can ask Toyota? Thanks, Alan
You don't need to bother w/ Toyota..it's in the PC Store.... 2010 Prius Accessories : PriusChat Shop It's worth it, IMO............
Agreed PC Shop is worth it, but if shipping to Hawaii is too expensive through them, I believe the part number is 00016-47040.
Check this link out this may help you I have used it a number n times Toyota Scion Parts Accessories Discounted Prices - Metrotpn
Thanks for the part number. PC store has not got back to me. I am hoping the shipping will not be high, but living here all my life I am skeptical. In my experience any car part (bigger than a bread box) is better off buying local. It's either the weight or size that kills it. Thanks, Alan
We are getting our Prius V ATP tomorrow (Friday) night. I bit the bullet and I ordered from PC Store. It didn't say anything about an extra charge for shipping to Hawaii. My wife really like this bumper protector and I am sure it will be frequently used. Thanks for the help... Alan
I need some protection for the top few inches on rear bumper. Dragging out wheel chair I am too weak to lift clear of bumper. Any ideas?
Is there a protector for top of rear bumper. Draging out wheel chair will scratch it Too frail to lift clear.
I think that's what they are talking about in this thread. Correct me if I'm wrong. We were out driving the prius today and came up behind another. I don't my my prius's well enough to know for sure what year it was, looked recent. It had a rubber looking protector on the top of the bumper. Speaking of bumper protectors, my "05 Owner Rewards Package" includes a "Rear Bumper Protector" which the salesman said was a plastic film. What good can that do? Also on aur window sticker is a "YZ Rear Bumper Protector Delete". I presume this refers to the real bumper protector. It took $85 off the price.
The plastic film one is actually reasonably tough - it looked to me like it would protect from your occasional scuff or scratch. But if you are frequently loading heavy, bulky stuff, like a wheelchair or hockey gear (yes, ice hockey, I do live in the northeast after all ), the rubber/plastic one is definitely the way to go.
I would like a brished aluminum one perhaps. I didn't get one, felt I didn't need it. I'm careful. However on my last trip while parking at the airport, someone else must have rested their suitcase on my bumper??? We only had one small bag and I never drag anything out of the hatch but when I got back from my trip there is a series of black scratches that looks like something has slid on my bumper. I'll probably be able to rub these out, but I will be looking for something attractive that protects the bumper.
I think there is a carpet one that would be better for draging something over the bumper and out of the hatch area. It has a carpet flap to flip over the bumper, you flip it in before closing the hatch. Now I need to find it. done!http://www.toyota.com.au/prius/accessories/interior Scuff Guard This smart neoprene mat helps protect the paintwork around your Prius' rear bumper. It lies flat in the cargo area secured by a Velcro strip while driving. When it comes to loading or unloading simply fold it out over the bumper to prevent scratches. Might be Australia only accessory, I don't know.
You can get this from Japan. Sigma has it for $155 plus shipping. It part of the Styling Package Plated found here: Toyota Prius 2010+ ZVW30 Exterior Accessories :: Sigma Automotive
I noticed the Rear Bumper Aplique on this page comes with the Prius Logo on it. We are supposed to have the applique or film on our bumper. Is it supposed to have the logo, because our doesn't? It least I don't think so, will double check when the wifey brings the car home.
The photo appears to be the one for Gen II (note the badging) - it is definitely different from the PriusChat store version (ribs are side-to-side instead of front-to-back.) Is the PriusChat Gen III version an actual Toyota part, or aftermarket?
I wondered the same thing. I think it is OEM. The part number that was posted was on another site listed as OEM, but when I called the local Toyota dealer he could not find the number. This might be another Toyota Hawaii thing though.
