This has been asked before but not recently and hopefully someone has some new information they can share.. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove and replace the antenna base? Specifically; How to get under the headliner at the rear of the roof. Is it possible to do this without having to remove the complete headliner and "pad"? Do the plastic trim strips/covers along the edge of the headliner just "snap" away from whatever is holding them? Does anyone have a pix of the process of removing & replacing the trimstrips, headliner and antenna? Thanks.
It's actually fairly quick and easy to replace the antenna base. Here's a link to detailed, illustrated instructions for doing it: http://www.wallwatcher.com/Antenna When this post was made (August, 2009), the part sold for about $200 on the web. Following those instructions and working slowly and carefully, you probably can do the job in 30-60 minutes.
It's worth going to Auto Zone and getting a trim removal tool (about $10). You'll be less likely to damage the plastic fasteners.
