So glad you got your new car!!!

I can't wait to see the photos you take of it in the countryside.

 

A few weeks ago my wife put down a deposit for a Package III with solar roof. Yesterday the dealer called and said Toyota was no longer making the III with the SR, and that it was only going to be a part of the IV. Can anyone confirm the truth of this, or substantively deny it? I suspect the limited number of vehicles with SR available here in the northeast may have led to the dealer lying to see if they could get us to upgrade and make it easier for them to find one.

Maggie is right. We live in NY have a IV with sunroof & Nav.

How do you find dealer allocations in the NY area. When I go to buyatoyota.com all i get is a request form for price quotes. I have a Barcelona Red -drk gr interior w/solar ordered from PlazaAuto Mall on 7/11 and quoted 5 months (Xmas time) but I am afraid it will be longer.

 

You need to directly contact the dealers in your area - and beyond your area. If you're set on the SR you may have to venture beyond your dealer region. Also keep an eye on the Dealer Forum here - dealers often post cars that will be coming available to them.

An SR isn't necessarily easy - but it's worth it!

 

I'm in South Florida and got mine at the end of May, but I had vendor access through Southeast Toyota Distributors, so my experience was significantly different. I do know that at the time my new Prius was the first at the dealership (Al Hendrickson Toyota) with the solar package.

 

Well, I just put in my order for a Pkg III with Solar roof package, and the dealer thinks he can get it in 2-4 weeks. What's even better is this: I live in Delaware, and the SR package (if you can get it) is only available on PKG IV. I don't need the leather seats, so I have ordered mine from a dealer in MA where I travel for work and got what I want (when I actually get it) for $3000 less. I will keep you posted on my experience with deliver

 

One cannot even configure a III with solar on the Toyota website for this region. The dealer is probably just making it up when he says Toyota is no longer "making the III with solar roof" but the truth is, they are very hard/impossible to get, depending on the location

 

I picked up a 2010 Prius with the solar powered moonroof today. I had to wait 2 weeks. I live in Massachusetts. I sent e-mails to multiple dealers in MA, CT and RI telling them what I wanted. Luckyly one had the exact car I wanted incoming in 2 weeks. Someone had placed an order and then canceled. Another dealer had one with out the moonroof. He put me on a waitlist for the solar powered moonroof. He called me a week later that he had one! I had alsready put a deposit on the one I got. My advice is to e-mail all the dealers within the area you are wiling to travel. Tell them what you want.

We special ordered our Prius IV and it took six weeks to arrive (picking it up Saturday at Koons - Tysons, VA). As far as deals are concerned, since the 2010 Prius is about the only model that is selling rapidly right now, don't expect much discount.
