What needs to be done to pass a failed Connecticut emissions test? 2005 160,000 miles This is the car's test results: EMISSION TEST RESULTS:Overal OBD Result: FAILMIL Engine off: PassReadiness Result: N.AConnector Voltage: 12Catalyst DTC: N/ATEST TYPE: OBDll Connector Status: PassMIL Engine On: PassDiagnostic Trouble Codes: N/ARPM:Communications Status: FAILMIL Commanded On: N/A
As I understand, the inspection computer wasn't able to talk to the car's computer. It looks like CT does private inspections. Other people who had this problem many times had success just by going to another shop. It may be worth $20 to have it tested somewhere else just to make sure.. ETA: This document has some diagnostics for the possible issue. http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache...ail&cd=9&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a
Try a dealer next. If they can't talk to the car at least you'll be in the right place to get the communications problem fixed. I would bet that there is actually no emissions problem with the car and that there was some problem with the inspection device.
