I installed my HID kit from MobileHID.com mid last week. I've finally gotten around to taking some pics of the car with the new lights.

Like last time, I went a little pic crazy and took some more shots of the overall car. :) Same location (for most), but new pics. These were taken around 6:30 pm this evening when the sun was starting to go down. I think it made for a nice backdrop.

These are the 5000k HID lights. My previous car had 6000k from Mobile HID, which were a bit bluer. These are definitely a brighter white, more like a white LED. However, from different angles and for a short period while the bulbs warm up (approx. 15 seconds), they appear bluer.

They were a very simple install. The only rough part was reaching around a few things to get the passenger side light in. I guess my hands are pretty big, and it's a bit cramped under the hood on that side.

I connected the positive feed in the fuse box, and put the ground to a bolt on the body. (the same locations I saw someone else do in another thread from a little while back)

I wish I would have thought to take pics of the HID package, before I took everything out to install. It came very neatly packed, and included the ballast mounting brackets, screws (which I didn't need), zip ties, 2 ballasts, 2 bulbs, the wiring harness (including relay switch and fuse), latex gloves (to avoid touching the bulb), instructions, and also a couple MobileHID decals. However, I have included a picture of the box, just for demonstration purposes.

I took one "cutoff" pic, and as you can see, it's still daylight outside...so probably not the best pic. I might try to take some better ones tonight sometime.

Clifford @ Mobile HID (www.mobilehid.com) is a really nice guy and went above and beyond the call of duty in the past to help me, when I was first getting set up with HID lights. Being that he provided a great quality product and great customer service, I thought I would return the favor and give him a plug here, since I know a lot of people are interested in upgrading their 2010 Prius with HID lighting.

In a few of the photos, I've outlined in red the location of the two ballasts, as well as the route that I went with the wiring harness. I've also added a couple pics of inside the fuse box, showing where I connected the power line and also the ground line.
It's a very simple install... basically as easy as changing a light bulb and running a couple wires.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
    Enjoy the pics!

Here is a short YouTube clip of the lights warming up and a quick drive down the street.

Here is a clip of me cruising around town earlier.

    lol....
I do love taking and viewing photos, but I consider myself a SLIGHT hobbyist at best. ;)
I've always wanted a nice SLR, but have always just used semi-decent point and shoots.

Those pics were taken with a Casio Exilim 12MP.

I do agree, it does make for a nice backdrop esp. given the scenery. Now it looks like the pics in the brochure (you know how they always make the headlights look white).

Hmm, I wonder who's the first to modify the row of light between the high beams and the parking light. It would make for an awesome DRL mod if you fill it with LEDs

I have always liked those lights and they look bad nice person on the prius. However the website says that are not DOT approved if installed outside of the factory. Have you ever had a problem with the law and having HID lights?

Never. In fact, I haven't had a single person flash their brights at me yet. (thinking that I either had MY brights on or to tell me that my lights were blinding them...which is something that I got somewhat often with my last car)

Being that I'm not using a color that stands out too much (like some of the VERY blue ones or even purple) and that it's obviously a pretty new vehicle, I think that it doesn't stick out as too "after market" or modified.
I really wonder about how much leniency, if any, cops give to non-threatening cars such as the Prius.

I don't think cops care about these things too much and I have never seen a DOT officer and since Prius's used to come with HID I think they assume they are stock. The 6K kit I got at coolbulbs is even bluer than his and it looks normal to my friends, in fact I have had to women comment on how well they see with cars headlights! I think having Projectors and HID's really makes the lights come alive

Looks very nice. Can you put a closeup of the relay and the fusebox?

Yes. I should've done that in the first place.
I'm about to leave, but I'll do it later this afternoon/evening sometime.

Looks good! I'm trying to find the DAX35DKE part number you have on the MobileHID website but can't figure out where to look. Any hints on what kit I should be looking for? :)

You're gonna need to get the H11 kit. H11 refers to the bulb's size/type.
The color temp I went with is the 5000k.
If you want a little more blue tint, go with 6000k,
but I wouldn't recommend going above that.

If you need any detailed help, give Clifford a call!
    He's very friendly. :)

By the way... I just realized that the pic I took of the box was of my last box, that I ordered for my previous car.
It was also the H11 kit, but was the 6000k color temp.... not sure if that matters.

Just go for the H11 kit in whatever color temp you like! :)

Their website advertises that shipping to Canada is free although I haven't confirmed it. Unfortunately, they also have a blurb about needing to disable the Daytime Running Lights if going HID so that's scared me off from buying for the meantime. The way people in Vancouver drive I think I need to keep the DRLs going. Maybe I'll let some other Canadian give this one a shot first! ;)

Yeah but for 2010, the DRLs are the high beams so there's no worry. That statement would apply to the Gen 2 Prius though cause we use a dual filament bulb and our DRLs are linked to it (In addition, we would also lose high beam functionality)
