I have today ordered the new Prius. I will get in mid september 2009.
I have ordered the fully equipped version which here in Sweden is named Executive. It comes with moonroof with solar panel and remote Air-conditioning System, all leather with heated front seats, Pre Crasch System with Adaptive Cruise Control, Full Map Navigation with Hard Disk Drive (no DVD), Bluetooth and rear view camera with intelligent Park Assist, LED headlamps with cleaners, rain sensor, dusk sensor, water reppellent front side glass, electrochromatic rear-view mirror, full smart entry & start system, front step lamps, 6 CD changer with 8 speakers and Bluetooth connection to MP3 player, Head Up Display (for displaying speed, navigation and hybrid status on front windshield).
I have ordered it silver metallic.
It will come with 15 inches wheels because of the solarpanel. I do not yet know why solar panel is coupled to 15 inches wheels. I know that the fuel conumption is lower with the smaller wheels. I will probably order 17 inches wheels.
I am now driving a Lexus IS250, 2007, but I am not satisfied with rear legroom and luggage room. The Prius will be so much better.

I will let you know when I have picked up the car and then give you an opinion.

A car with a similar specification as Anders' without metallic paint and a JBL sound system should have a catalogue price just above SEK370,000. In the current dealership climate should not impossible to trim this to under 350,000, though I guess it depends on the dealer!

    Baltechno,

The Solar Panel = 15 inch wheels combination is to do with the vehicles weight.

The solar panel adds weight, the 17 inch wheel also add weight, and put together they take the car 'just' into the next category as regards the (safety ? emissions ? ) testing authorities are concerned

so by going back to 15 wheels this 'regulatory' problem was avoided....
...I read it somewhere on here !!

Maybe that is not a very good explanation but i tried !

Hope you love your new car !

    regards
    Alan

Why do you need cooling in Sweden? Also how are you getting a model with both solar roof and LED headlights/parking assist. In the U.S. now, you can't get both.

Clearly, the sunroof has an undesirable effect on weight, forcing Toyota to mount 15'' rims with the high-end Priuses.

It does get warm in Scandinavia, so just as anywhere else, and plenty of people in the region travel south with their private vehicles, so the A/C is a welcome addition in the high-end series. Interestingly, the seat warmers are not standard in Norway nor Denmark -not that the seat warming system is any good. The switch is in the worst imaginable location and you can't have it on for long, as it gets too hot too quickly.

In case you are interested in the specifications and costs of Prius in Scandinavia, here's a basic list of prices and equipment options by country. Information is correct at the time of this post (note: prices use space as thousand delimiter)

    Norway
    Price (delivery in Oslo) from NOK 272 300 to 347 000 (EUR 34 000 to 43 400 / USD 46 700 to 59 284)
Comfort, Advance (215/45R17 tyres), Executive (+HDD Navigation, Parking assist) and Premium (+Sunroof, therefore 15'' rims).

    Sweden
    Price from SEK 246 000 to 341 000 (EUR 25 250 to 35 000 / USD 34 500 to 47 800) Exempt from road tax during the first 5 years.
Basic package (no specific name), Business (17'' rims), Executive (+HDD Navigation and parking assist)

    Denmark
    Price from DKK 385 000 to 568 000 (EUR 59 300 to 76 305 / USD 70 650 to 104 240) To understand car pricing in DK click here.
T2, T3 (17'', cruise control) and T4 (sunroof, parking assist, LED headlamps).

    Hi
I didn't understand Danish pricing system.
The price you quoted is even more than Israel. I paid about $43,000 including Registration and CC that I added along with a few additional goodies.
If the hybrid would be taxed like other cars it would have cost about $54K
    :)

I understand that this may seem like a lot of money for car owners in most countries, but this is how vehicles for private use are taxed in Denmark. I wouldn't dare to write a simplified explanation in this forum, but in short the registration tax for new and used cars is calculated by 105 per cent (for the few cars with a value up to DKK 79.000) and 180 per cent of the rest.

Taxis, vans and other "car adaptations" which consist of conventional cars with just the front seats -quite specific to Denmark as far as I know- do not have to pay as much tax.

For the latest price list of Prius in DK, I refer you to this document from the Danish Toyota site. You may want to compare with the prices of BMW, Volkswagen Golf or the Volvo S40 to verify this is not about the Prius, but taxes imposed on cars.

More information on the site of the Danish Tax Authority, if you are really curious.

    WOW
In Israel there is a sales Tax of 83% + 16% VAT.
Cars receive up to $4000 discount depending how green they are
    Hybrids sales Tax only 30%
Electric Vehicles - if and when only 10%
