I had ordered a Black-Base model but the dealer unexpectedly received a Blue Ribbon-Premium model. When I saw it I jumped on it, the Premium options were icing on the cake and the Blue sparkles so nice in the sun. I would have had to wait a month for Black, and instead I got my car the first day it was released in Canada! :canada:
RED = hard to keep clean? I have a 2010 RED III+Nav on order but I still have time to change my mind (since it won't be off the boat until mid August). Am a making a mistake in choosing a RED car? We have no garage. Will red be a dust/dirt magnet? Our Prius’ predecessor was a silver Intrigue (RIP, baby!) and had to be pretty filthy before looking unclean. I never regretted choosing silver but I am concerned about the red choice!
Re: RED = hard to keep clean? Previous car was pearl white, similar to Blizzard Pearl and a breeze to keep clean (as your silver). Now have the Barcelona Red, for a month. It's a great color - very sporty and looks nice against the black trim. Surprisingly doesn't show dust dirt too badly. Waxes up really well. I don't think you'll be dissatisfied - but...it will show dirt easier than your silver. My recommendation - get the Prius in the color you like the very best. If your pick is really close amongst 2 or 3, then perhaps go for the easiest to keep clean since you don't garage.
I took delivery of my Classic Silver Prius III on July 28. I got it from Ourisman Fairfax Toyota for about $700 below invoice and got $4,500 for my 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan clunker.
I test drove a Blue Ribbon Metallic but I just didn't like the color for some reason (I realize it's a very popular color here). The only other color my Toyota dealer had was Blizzard Pearl, but I was resistant to accept that color because I'm not a fan of white cars (although if I had to choose between the 2, I would have opted for the Blizzard Pearl). As I was leaving the dealer there was a Sandy Beach Prius that someone had brought in and it caught my eye (my previous car was a Desert Sand Mica Corolla). I asked my dealer if he could get a Prius in either Sandy Beach or Winter Grey. He was able to get a Winter Grey and the next day I got my Prius. Although Winter Grey was not my first choice, upon seeing it in person I fell in love.
My top three choices for a Prius IV with solar in order of preference were: 1) Blizzard Pearl because it really shows off the lines, especially with the solar roof option -- and anybody seeing it would recognize what it was if they've seen the TV ads 2) Blue Ribbon Metallic because it is so eye catching 3) Winter grey because it is sophisticated, understated, and classy. It is also an unusual grey -- dependingon the lighting, it can look like a deep blue or purple, black, or just dark grey. I ended up with the winter grey. It wasn't my first or second choice, but I'm very happy with it!
Picking up my Blizzard Pearl w/bisque interior on Monday. It is really beautiful, and I am not a fan of white cars at all. However, this color is very classy, and shows off the lines of the car really well. Monday is new car day!
Picking up my Winter Gray Metallic w/ dark gray interior on Monday. (unless Uncle Murphy gets in the way) I was originally set on a Blizzard Pearl, which I still think is a beautiful color for the 2010 Prius, but Winter Gray was a close second in my opinion. A Winter Gray became available, so I went with it. The more pics I see of it, the more I like it. I really like the variance in the color, depending on the light/shade. Can't wait to cruise around in it!
My two top choices were Winter Grey and Blue Ribbon---Winter Grey was available, and I like it a lot. But if Toyota had offered a forest green, I would have chosen that in a heart beat. Never much cared for that faded lime they used to offer.
I can't decide between Winter Grey and Blue Ribbon We have cobalt details on our vintage Spanish house....so the blue would look nice sitting on our Spanish courtyard driveway, but the winter grey is classy and I too like the color variations in different lights. Oh how I hate the indecision! I need a car!!
