After spending hours trying to absorb the experiences and analyses in PC, I finally ordered my Prius IV (no nav) in blue ribbon yesterday. I was told that there weren't any in the US. The dealer said the wait could be anywhere from one to four months. What's the longest that anyone has had to wait for a similar package? (As this is my first post, let me say that I appreciate all the contributions made here in PC).:cheer2:
i dont think there's a wait dont let this dealer fool you around i know i live in LA but i got a prius IV w/ sunroof instantly w/ no wait at all and couple of dealers calling me for the same car. btw be careful on dealers that tells you they have to special order the car most of them are just sitting on their garage just trying to get a better deal out of you. good luck on the IV's and im gonna tell you right now im having fun with these car!
There seems to be a lot of cars available on the west coast. I've been watching Diane's inventory in Manhattan Beach, CA with great frustration as I waited 2 1 /2 mos for mine and she had 15 in stock last time I looked. Here in the Northeast the cars are mostly sold before they come off the truck. There are some IIs and IIIs, but not many. Once in awhile a IV pops up, more often than not without NAV so that's to your favor. Then, try to get the color you want... I think your dealer was being some what realistic and trying set your expectations. If you're lucky, a car will come in a month. If you're not so lucky, you may wait 2 months. I doubt it will go out past 3 mos., but then again it could. If you're willing to take a drive, talk to Jabber in Chicago. He's been very helpful here and the folks who dealt with him highly recommend him. I ordered in late June, exact same model and color. I'm still waiting. I was told 2 weeks ago that they are still waiting for it to come into the New Jersey port. I emailed asking for a status update this morning. I'm hoping it will be in soon. The wait is the hardest part. Edit: When I was selecting the color, I was warned that blue would be harder color to get. But I called in two days later and changed my selection to blue anyway.
They actually had one with a SR until recently, but I don't want to part with that much cash. I have no idea how many blue ribbon IVs there are in this country w/o SR & nav, but they told me "none". As I don't know the source of the information (maybe someone could comment on this) and I know the salesman, I would tend to believe what he told me.
My salesman, whom I know, told me that blue was a popular color. I was going to go with that classy gray (of which there were apparently two available -- somewhere --, but NOOOOOO, my daughters insisted that I should go with blue!!!!
Hello everyone, These car come off the boat pre built. If there is one on a boat that is coming accross right now you might have it in a month or 2. However if that car is not on a boat right now you could be waiting six months for Toyota to build the car and ship it to the states. It all really depends on what Toyota has built and on a boat.
I ordered mine in late June and was told probably September. That said, I've already been offered one in my 2nd choice exterior color which I turned down b/c it was an interior color I just don't like. I think what you've been told seems fair but you may get phone calls with other choices before then. Does seem like the West coast is getting lots of them (probably because of their previous order history).
I currently live in CT and am in the process of moving to CA. I wanted to buy a IV with Solar in CT since there is no sales tax on hybrids in CT but there are NONE here. No colors available in IV with Solar. Lots of II's and III's. I had my pick of several in CA and bought a Blizzard Pearl, Misty Gray, IV, Solar that is being delivered to me at SFO when I land next week.
I paid the deposit on a II in Blue Ribbon a week ago, and am told that a) nobody in the area has one and b) even if they did, they don't have anything in stock to trade it with. I'm confused on that because I know they have at least one of each trim sitting on the lot, but unfortunately they are all silver. I looked around online and found the exact car I'm looking for on a lot about 10 miles away but my dealer claims they are "waiting to hear back" from multiple places. We'll see, but as of now they are unable to give me any kind of time frame, even if it will be several weeks or several months. Meanwhile I'm out a nice chunk of change on the deposit with nothing to show for it...
I am new here too, doing research on getting a new Prius. I've been checking out all the dealers within 75 miles or so of where I live here in NC, and I found this in Greensboro. I saw a blue IV without NAV last week, here are the details: Seriesrius Model:1227 - Base/Gas Electric Sedan (CVT) 2WD Prius IVModel Year:2010 Transmission:Continuously VariableTrans VIN:JTDKN3DU7A0014133 Color:Blue Ribbon Metallic Available:Immediately Dealer Name:Rice Toyota Dealer Phone:336-288-1190 I guess I can't post a link since I'm new, but if you google them you will find it in their inventory.
Does anyone here know how the dealers workout the swaps between each other? A dealership in the region seems to have two models "in stock" that I want. I like the dealership I have my deposit down at though. But then again, I don't think they have anything to swap it with. I must chillax!
I had ordered mine in on June 5 (Blue with Solar and Nav). Still not in. Dealer calls me all the time on the II's, III's, and IV's wrong color and no package. It is true, it depends on what is on the boat and what dealer was allocated that car(s). All your dealer can do is keep putting a request in every other week in hopes it comes in and is given to you!
Most of the time they trade vehicles if the other dealer has something the other has and visa versa. I looked into the same thing from a dealer in a different state but the car was already sold. I was told that I could put another deposit with them and whoever get's the car in first wins. But putting $500 or more on each dealer ties your money up but a bigger dealer may get more cars in.
Thanks for the thought! However... I decided to go with the nav after all (rear view camera, BT streaming music, etc.) A couple of days after my "order" I decided on the change. During that conversation I was told that the IV w/o nav was on a ship and 7 weeks from delivery. With the change, I'm told it might be 12 as the presumed vehicle is still in Japan. Not to worry though; more time to save cash plus I have the improved possibility of getting Safety Connect (cars mfg. after Aug. 1) and the iPod adapter as part of the package (who knows the date for that???).
Do you wonder if people not using the CARS program are getting moved down the list so that they can get those using the program in while they can? Or are those using CARS just taking whatever they can get?
Northwest Indiana - Ordered a II in Winter Gray Metallic with Dark Gray interior at the end of June and had to wait 5 weeks for it to arrive. I pick it up tomorrow! Waiting 5 weeks was awful so I certainly hope you don't have months to go.
