I went to the dealership nearest me on Sunday to browse. They had around 12 in all . They had 2 white, 2007's I was interested in. I went to the dealership 2 days later with my check book and they were sold! Had only 4 left out of 12 in 2 days. Luckily another dealership near by had a white one I bought. That first dealer, he told me all the 2010's coming in were bought.
I got mine this week. $500 below MSRP. offcourse the 10% sales tax kills you if you are in LA area. Good luck everyone!!!
At this point there aren't any IIs or IIIs on the lots around here. Most dealers already have all their August allocation spoken for. I'm in for one that I found currently available about 2 hours out of town and consider myself lucky. So pricing is list price at this point. The goal is avoiding options you don't want. If you can wait, you can probably dicker on price. The Costco discount would have been $350 on a II. But the Costco related dealer is sold out until mid or late September. Since I'm doing mine on a clunker deal, I'm not too sanguine on the money lasting until mid or late September. Paying a couple hundred bucks extra to take advantage of the federal program is a no brainer.
If you itemize, it's probably more than CA tax paid which you deduct on your fed return and you can deduct the sales tax paid instead.
My local dealer offered me Pirus II for MSRP - 250(Costco price). My question is, What is the MSRP price of II?
Our salesman told us that the technology in the '10 is so superior to the earlier models that he recommended getting the '10 (although he had several '09's on the lot). The service dept. manager recommended getting an extended warranty, too, because apparently everything runs through the AC and if there's a problem, the repair is thousands of dollars. We got our '10 at $500 over invoice.
Of course you'd have to know if these X below MSRP claims involved a trade-in. If yes, the X below MSRP number could be meaningless.
Agreed. Financing comes in to play also. If they arrange the financing, the dealer may get a cut, apply part of that to a reduction of the sales price and still come out ahead.
In Arizona, the 2010 Prius II is 24899. (that's the price the dealer wants). I guess this is a RIP-OFF? Scummy dealerships.
Unlike me, you are close enough to AZ to flat bed from Diane to skip the CA tax and save at least $500 net
Even up here in the NW, with shortages due to WA hybrid sales tax holiday, the IIs were going at MSRP. What did you pay for the extended warranty? ($1,055 on this site for 7 years and 0 ded) but have to apply). Dealer matched so bought it.
You should talk to a Costco advocate. After my local participating Costco dealer said there was no discount, I requested an advocate for help. The advocate I spoke with said they had a new price sheet and the Prius had a "token discount" In my case, the local dealership agreed on $250, but I haven't taken delivery yet. Funny thing is, I was in the Costco in St. Charles, IL and they had a 2010 Prius IV in the entrance advertising their car buying program and how it can save you thousands
Model 1227 with Package SR and floor mats $30,350 The dealer took $50 off (They did make a big deal about how in demand they were and how long the waiting list was...) But with taxes and fees my $30,300 turned into $34,603.38... Optional goods and services "Protection Plus" paint, seat and carpet protection - $895.00 Other goods, services and miscellaneous charges Optional DMV Electronic Filing Fee - $29.00 Document Preparation Fee - $55.00 Government Fees and Taxes Sales Tax - $2,890.63 License fees - $358.00 Registration/transfer/titling fees - $67.00 California tire fees - $8.75 I paid too much for the Protection Plus (it should have been much lower). And while I would like to wait for a better deal, my current car died on me and this is still cheaper than a rental or other options...
Finally purchased my new Gen 3 Prius IV with solar/nav package! I was originally going to forgo the leather to save a few $$ and was prepared to have to wait a month or two but my dealer called me when a demo model IV with the package I wanted came in from a regional salesperson. He had clocked 1600 miles on it which I will put on in just a few weeks so didn't matter to me too much - I'd rather the discount. Price is $27,300 delivered - Sticker was $30,429 which included some interior extras like all weather mats, cargo net, etc. Sticker (with a few xtras) - $30,429 After $3,129 Discount - $27,300 After $2,300 Trade - $25,000 Taxes - 1250 Title - 109.50 Doc Prep - 298 $26,657.50 out the door (or $28,957.50 OTD not including my trade) Sandy Beach with Leather Bisque Interior - can't wait to pick Goldie up!!
Finally got mine at USD 500 under the MSRP, on top got USD 4,500 from CARS program. Here in greater Phila dealers dont have enough stock yet they are trying to hold the price tight. I am happy with $ 500 discount, I would have bought the car even at MSRP in order not to lose the CARS incentive, dealers know that too... Already driven 380 miles in 4 days very very happy with the car. Averaged 52miles/gallon. Matt
I bought the Prius III w/Floor Mats in Blizzard White for $22,989! ($80 over invoice, sticker price: $24,140) Special Color - $220 Floor Mats - $200 OTD Price: $24,190 Already driven 250 miles in 3 days and I am absolutely in love with it!
