If you want to see a real mess, leave the oil cap open on an airplane engine. One of my friends did this and landed with a big oil smear down the side of the plane. Fortunately he still had oil...

Did not get it clean yet, I plan on changing the oil completely and cleaning today. I actually only topped off last night since by the time I rounded up all the parts it was dark. It's running fine though, nice and quiet and smooth.

I am 55k miles right now so I plan on checking the brakes. I actually used my breaks vice the regenerative braking feature. I got away from using that feature when I first bought the Prius but I think I will start giving it a shot again.

My thing is I drive 45 miles each way to work and its all highway so I don't see how the battery will help me much with that. Now, I realize this is probably ignorance on my part and I would love to learn how this feature works to improve my gas mileage if anyone has the time to explain.

It's been explained many times on PriusChat. In your situation, what the battery and motors do is allow your Prius to function with a much smaller and more efficient gas engine. In a normal car, the engine must be sized for the worst case loads of passing, hill climbing, and acceleration. The Prius can use a much smaller Atkinson Cycle engine that is very efficient, since the electrical motor system provides extra torque and power when needed.

Yes, you are right. If the red triangle is the only warning light on then there may be no DTC. In this case, with the oil cap off for a while, I would have expected to see a DTC logged showing excessively lean fuel/air mixture and the check engine light should have come on eventually.
I would say that if your engine oil looks reasonably clean on the dipstick, then why bother to change out the oil and filter now. It should be OK to wait until your next scheduled oil change.
