This is truly fascinating if substantiated! Dip my whole dang car!

If it really does increase the strength of a part to the point of lasting many times longer, its no wonder the Big three hasn't started doing this. I know more than one engineer and dyno lab guy that has been told to engineer a part down so it won't last so long. After all, parts and service are where they make their big $$$.

Sorry... Temperature coefficients for most metals are around 10 parts per million per degree C so they shrink by around 0.2% when going from room temp to liquid nitrogen temp. Not much of a density change. Temperature changes don't smooth off surfaces; I don't know why you say bearings become super polished when cold! It just doesn't make sense (neither does the spelling of "benifit" or "molacules").

Why do reporters pass on fantastic claims without asking for real hard evidence?

    Howdy folks,

In building very accurate rifles (aggregate of 10 three shot groups of .050 or less), we have been cryo treating barrels for some time now (last 5-10 years). The big improvement in the treated gun barrel is the barrel will act in a very predictable and repeatable way every time it gets hot (shot). We have less heat distortion and the barrel returns to the original shape when cooled. The pattern is also very repeatable causing the gun to be very accurate. It seems that the cryo process produces a stress relief result causing the metal to work more predictably.

It has been shown to improve rifle accuracy however, it is always very difficult to prove in a true scientific study because of the variations in every barrel made... I have seen tests where a barrel was shot and then treated. In every case the treated barrel shot much better after the treatment…

i have heard about the cryo treating of metals for years. but i dont see how this will increase the gas mileage that much
