Just got mine yesterday. Sadly I hesitated on the grey Prius II I wanted, with no dumb options, and they sold it the next day before I went back to get it. Was getting it for $500 off msrp through the costco car buying program. They still gave me $500 off the msrp of the black Prius III I got, and did a dealer transfer for me since they didnt have the color I wanted, so I'm happy. The $500 just about covered the illuminate door sills(really, who would choose to have that for $395???), cargo net(not bad), carpet floor mats(I'd have prefered the all weather, but eh, whatever), first aid kit(meh), and bumper applique(not bad). Total msrp was $24,458, and I got it for 23,958, before tax and license. I'm happy with the deal, 6CD sound and blue tooth are nice, and am very happy with the car as well. :)

A couple of those "packages" sound like pure dealer profit. Glad you're happy w/ the purchase though!

I was just walking by San Francisco Toyota's prep lot and walked in to check out a couple of 2010's sitting there. I was surprised to see a sticker price of $29-30k on them. Given some of the posts above, apparently this is not out of line but, as with most things, you can probably still get it for a bit less outside of SF. :(

BTW, this is probably the wrong thread to mention this in, but what's up with the double tier console?

My initial reaction was negative because it looks odd, but I can see how the upper tier could be more ergonomic for shifting (don't have to search for the shifter on the dash as you do on the Gen II) and how the lower tier would be more useful to store things in (although I would prefer side covers to hide the mess).

I'll be paying $30,625 for my Blizzard Pearl IV with solar roof and floor mats.

    $25,800 + $220 (special color) + $3600 (solar roof/navigation) + $200 (floor mats) + $805 (i guess this remainder is the destination/whatever fee) = $30,625.

Unless of course I get a call saying that they have my second color choice, Winter Gray Metallic, in which case I'll save the $220 special color charge. At that time I will decide if it's worth it or not to wait and see how long a Blizzard Pearl will take.
    I'm growing impatient.

$29-30k for which package and with what options? I just purchased my blizzard pearl V from City Toyota (Daly City) over the 7/4 weekend. Price breakdown:
    $27,270 - MSRP
    $750 - Destination
    $220 - Special Color
    $200 - Floor mats
    $1,800 - Nav Package
    Total MSRP: $30,240
    Total w/discount: $29,572 (before fees+license+tax)

Usually if you call around, then report the lowest quote to the dealership near you, they will more than likely match it. Otherwise just go to the nearest location willing to match/beat your lowest quote. I want to also mention that the car was fresh off the boat with 1 mile on it before fueling. There were a couple pieces of plastic covering in the interior that they missed.

I had the same initial reaction to the double-tier console. But after having owned my car for just a few days, I'm actually starting to like it a lot. To add to your list, one more benefit is that the lower storage bin is nicely shaded from sun light by the upper tier. Another concern I had initially was not being able to reach the lower tier, but I've learned that is not the case. Also I thought the shift knob would block access to some of the controls (like driving modes and AC) but finding that's not true either. If you haven't already, you should go for a test drive and see for yourself whether it suits you or not.

Got to pick up my Prius II yesterday. I think I got a pretty good deal considering its a very base model.

    Prius II + destination $22,750
    Floor mats $200
    Special Color $220
    Free window tint
Option to get the remote engine start installed at dealer cost

Purchase price was $22,477, with TTL, out the door was $25,100.

Ended up getting $693 off MSRP + free window tint + discount on remote engine start when they get it in stock.

I think they were really motivated over the weekend cause they had several II's in stock and Toyota had an incentive to sell cars before July 6th.

I always carry my dslr with me and usually have to put it on the floor in the seat behind me. When I want it close (driving through rural lanes with no traffic looking for birds, butterflies, etc) I like to have it close and in my other vehicles it won't sit steady and safely anywhere up front. This appears to be a nice shelf that I can use for that purpose.

2010 Prius II; base + mats + special color - grand toto out the door price? 18325 (cash for clunkers trade of $4500).

Had to drive 2 hrs away from charlotte to get it tho =(

Most dealers blinked when they saw the price the other dealer was willing to accept - no one could match it.

I have this same exact GEN III and options. The default MSRP is $23170 which includes all the options/charges you mentioned. If you did managed to pick it up for $22750 + taxes and doc fee and state fees then you got a fairly nice deal for June 09 timeframe?

The base price sounds like a good deal to me. Before your taxes, insurance and such you did $121 better than me (though I got a "premium" color).

I can't speak to the value of the other things you paid for (gap insurance and service contract). What is the service contract? An extended warranty? Toyota was offering free service for two years when I bought mine last Saturday. It's nice that you only paid 5% tax (mine was 6%). I hope you got a good rate for financing more than 20k!

    Congrats on your new car!

Got my Prius IV w/ navigation yesterday.

Out the door price including PA registration was $28,363.60.
Another dealer offered $30000.30 then lowered to $29300.

So I guess I didn't do too badly..

Bought my IV with nav and solar roof. Don't remember the break down but OTD price was 29.750. Don't ask what this state's personal property tax was the next day.

I purchased on the 30th of August and took advantage of the 0% for 60 month financing. It all adds up fast for sure.

Blue IV w/Solar (and of course includes Nav)
Price w/Options: $29,724.00 (supposedly below invoice with splitting holdback)
Tax and fees: $1156.00 (killer taxes in AZ)
Trade: ($-422) - traded in leased Civic, some odd tax saving wipes out negative
    Out of Pocket: $0.00
    Dealer doc fee: $400
Tire and wheel warranty for 5 years through dealer: $170
Toyota maintenance for 4 years (plus the free 2 years): $440
Tinted windows: $150 (i think they hid it in first price)
    Total around $33200

Hopefully it was a good deal. I felt that the dealership really was open about all the costs. Looks like Toyota has extended the 2 year maintenance and 0% through the holiday weekend for those interested.

Also as a note, I did get the only blue ext/grey leather interior in the state (and trust me I looked) so I was a bit handicapped that I wanted something very specific.

Nice to get 0% financing! You never quite know how long to wait...or when to jump on a deal. I bought on the 27th and went with 3.5%.

I just read that this was the worst August for selling cars since 1982. I wonder if that included sales of the Prius?
